In a rare moment of not eating crow.

A member of the Sentinel Armada who rose to Primus Vanguard command, the cantankerous Red Sentinel Prime (レッド最強なる元帥 (センチネルプライム) Reddo Senchineru Puraimu, lit. "Strongest Marshal Red")[1] leads the Red Order from the fiery Red Planet. He may be a singular contrarian blowhard amongst his fellow commanders, but he's a surprisingly altruistic soul at heart, and he can be depended upon to wield his fearsome Red Matrix in defense of the Precursor World when push comes to shove.

When push really did come to shove, Sentinel fell and rose again as the even spicier Burning Red Sentinel Prime (灼熱の (バーニング)赤き (レッド)最強なる (センチネル)元帥 (プライム) Bāningu Reddo Senchineru Puraimu, lit. "Incandescent Red Strongest Marshal").[1]

Irreducible grump.

Red Sentinel Prime fought in the Primus Vanguard's final battle against their ancient enemy the Specters for the fate of their multiverse. Unusually for an Order leader, Sentinel played double duty as the Red Order's representative in the Sentinel Armada, the Vanguard's joint starfleet. As such when Blue Big Convoy lit a distress beacon after draining his Blue Star Power annihilating a Specter squadron, Sentinel was among the host that came to his aid. Blue Big Convoy comic When White Gallant Convoy, inspired by Blue's tactic, proposed unleashing the power of all of their matrices to defeat the Specters once and for all, he dismissed the concept as idiotic. Shouted down by the others, Sentinel begrudgingly unleashed the power of his Matrix alongside the rest of Vanguard command and ate his words as their seven united Star Powers successfully eradicated the Specters, with the side effect of knitted their multiverse into a single, multicolored world.

And you thought he had Fire Guts before.

Sentinel attended a subsequent conference of Primus Vanguard command to discuss the new threat of the Vok. At the close of the meeting Primus resolved to scry into the future and whatever he saw led him to hole himself up in his quarters for some time until he burst into the hallways of their headquarters, exclaiming that his pet Primacron had escaped and rambling to his generals about how he needed all of their Matrices immediately so that he could end the universe. An alarmed Sentinel left with his comrades as the Vanguard commanders left Primus to ravings and returned to their respective planets, save an impassive Blue. Finale Prelude

Sitting on his throne on the Red Planet, he was visibly disgusted following a telepathic message from Primus revealed that the Blue Order had failed in their duty of defending the Blue Planet and the rest of the Vanguard was now at risk. He was confident in his abilities to see off any foe, however, noting that as a Prime of the Vanguard, he was the boss of several Convoys. He ordered his Matrix Buster charged with its Red Matrix power source and had it fire on an oncoming foe. This turned out to be the Angolmois Energy-empowered Terrormander, who promptly called him a big wuss and blew him up. God Neptune comic 1

Sentinel was down but very much not out, at the cost of being reduced to a head. He was eventually able to make his way into outer space, where he met with Primus, now reduced to the Oracle, who had just received his own butt-kicking at the hands of Primacron piloting the Neo Primus robot. The Oracle was delighted to see him alive, and Sentinel showed some actual depth of character, encouraging the Oracle to stick to the mission The One had given him so long ago: to battle against malicious Angolmois Energy as the embodiment of its righteous opposite. He then revealed his new transtector, a flame-styled tank, proclaiming himself Burning Red Sentinel Prime, and rejoined his comrades in battle against Neo Primus. Finale

Some time after this, Sentinel would meet Megalligator, who had somehow gotten ahold of the Green Matrix. Unknown to either of them, this meeting was observed by Bludgeon and Soundwave. Cybertron Magna Convoy Everything would turn out right in the end, with Sentinel eventually becoming a member of the next-generation Primus Vanguard alongside fellow veteran Purple Wicked Convoy. References

  1. 1.0 1.1 As with other Primus Vanguard officers, Red Sentinel Prime's title is subject to a form of Japanese technique wherein "Strongest Marshal" is written in Japanese text as Saikyōnaru Gensui (最強なる元帥) but given the arbitrary pronunciation "Sentinel Prime" (センチネルプライム). In his new body, this becomes "Incandescent Red Strongest Marshal", spelled Shakunetsu no Akaki Saikyōnaru Gensui (灼熱の赤き最強なる元帥), with the pronunciation "Burning Red Sentinel Prime" (バーニングレッドセンチネルプライム). See the Japanese language article for further details on how this works.
