Unless a project has a lot of active users and has admins and bureaucrats we tend to give adminship for various periods (1 month, 3 months, 6 and so on. With communities with active users we would give perm. Hope that helps and feel free to ask any questions. fr33kman 21:02, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Dear Daniel, I've fixed the link. As for my last edit date you are right, however please note that when I first visited the site it was at the verge of closure. I personally built up 97% of the site. Presently I keep watching the site. I hope one day new contributors will join the team. Until that day I think it will be good to supervise things there.

The local policy says "sysop access may not be removed to MediaWiki developers due to inactivity", and both Jack Phoenix and Fran Rogers are developers. I received administrator and bureaucrat rights at the Māori Wikipedia back in 2004, mainly for the purposes of working with the interface. However, my activity there has been minimal, bordering on non-existent. Additionally, I was appointed (without my requesting it) by the unilateral judgement of another bureaucrat (who has since lost his status there anyway). I'm not aware of any specific policy on that wiki against inactive bureaucrats, but I would prefer not to keep either my bureaucrat or admin permissions if I'm not using them. (The notice at the top of this section says I should be "logged in to a global account". I hope that means "(if you have one)" — I don't, and if I created one right now, I'm told that my Māori Wikipedia account would become my "home wiki", even though I hardly use it. Self-requested removals are of course uncontroversial and it doesn't really make much difference who flips the bit, except that the log entry is made on meta instead of the local page. However, we generally decline steward requests, even uncontroversial ones, if there are active local people available to perform the same task. Indeed one of the motivating factors in giving enwiki bureaurats the ability to remove administrator permissions was to move the logs onto the local side (see w:WP:DESYSOP/TECH, w:WP:DESYSOP/POL, previous discussion on subject). That doesn't necessarily translate into 'stewards should send people to local venue except in urgent or emergency situations' and Dferg is correct that there is nothing "forbidding" non-urgent removal on request, nor has there been any kind of request to stewards from the enwiki community asking them to refrain from doing so. That being said, processing non-urgent requests in two different locations means that people may still be required to check both local and meta rights logs when looking into removals that were carried out after 2011 August 11. –xeno 13:27, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
