- 6. Vacuum suction is a gentle treatment that stimulates the lymphatic system and aids the removal of waste products, draining lymph from the tissues, and can assist in improving skin conditions by aiding the removal of fatty deposits. (
- 7. Session 2 • Comprised of the machine that has an electronically driven pump with control gauge, intensity switch, and on/off switch plastic tubing connecting the body cups to the vacuum unit vacuum applicators or body cups; a large and a small. • The machine creates a vacuum within each ventouse or cup which then draws up the skin tissue and is then moved towards the nearest lymph node in a single gliding movement.

Conduct a consultation and check for general and specific contra-indications Advise client on how to prepare for treatment Check machine is stable and in good working order and intensity dials are on zero Ensure client is positioned comfortably on couch Test machine on self Apply massage oil to the area to be treated to facilitate smooth application of treatment and prevent tissue damage Select the body cup for the size of the area and place on tissues; adjust the suction to 20% within the cup
- 12. Lift the cup and slide it towards the nearest lymph nodes to drain the lymph from the area before removing the cup from the area. Break the suction using the little finger under the rim of the cup, or by removing the finger from the hole on the cup and repeat movements 6 to 8 times, overlapping each stroke to ensure full drainage depending on the skin response to treatment. Reduce suction where required based on the skin response and to prevent bruising and dilation of capillaries. On completion of treatment, either massage oil into the tissues using effleurage movements or remove the oil depending on the treatment plan agreed with client. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, which will vary with each vacuum suction machine. Clean the vacuum suction cups in hot soapy water and disinfectant.
