I would say that adcoms do not think highly of those who are not able to talk about their experiences and deep insights in their applications and interviews. The MBA is not limited to the job title. If it were, there would not be 2 perspectives in the classroom. If this helps you build more confidence: I recently helped a middle school teacher get into one of the top 20. So, I am sure you are in a good position to sell your transferable skills to the adcoms.

Technical support work experience may not sound impressive, but it's all about how you present it in your MBA application. Did you manage people? were you promoted? selected out of many candidates? Absolutely. There are plenty of people who attend coming from backgrounds such as marketing, news/media, politics, etc. I am assuming you don't necessarily consider those fields to be "technical." As noted above, it's all about relevant experience, how the candidate sells him or herself, and why they want/need an MBA. Of course, a good GMAT score and a solid GPA are great data points to reassure the AdCom of the candidate's ability to handle the technical rigors of the MBA program.

If candidates with such backgrounds are accepted and matriculate, the school may have them participate in some sort of math/quant camp before school starts.
