Joško Gvardiol Flying High at Manchester City

A great player that now look fully incorporated.

Nottingham Forest v Manchester City - Premier League

Josko Gvardiol chose the Santiago Bernabéu as the place to announce his arrival at Manchester City with a wonderful goal that helped the Blues secure a 3-3 draw. Although City failed to get past Real Madrid after the second leg bowing out of the Champions League on penalties, the goal will live long in the memory of many a City fan.

For the player though, this is not something new as his goal for RB Leipzig against City in the Champions League a few seasons back put him on City's radar as a player to look out for. That subsequently led to his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Like most players usually do initially when trying to adapt to Pep Guardiola's demands, the Croatian struggled to fit into the team initially. The Catalan boss prefers to use him at left-back, a position he was not used to before moving to City.

However the player has adapted and is becoming more and more comfortable in the position. In fact, he is currently flying and one of the best players in the team.

Two goals and an assist in the last three league appearances show just how much the player has grown in the team. He was even named Man of the Match in City's last game against Nottingham Forest.

Not only is the 22-year-old excelling at his job at the back, he is now adding so much to City's attack providing assists and even getting on the score sheet. Yet he says he is still sometimes confused about the manager's instructions.

"At the beginning it was one idea then the manager changed it after half an hour, then again at half time he made a change back to do the same as at the beginning of the game," Gvardiol revealed in an interview after the Forest game.

"To be fair I was a bit lost because I did not know exactly what he wanted from me but he was much clearer after at half time."

It's unlikely Guardiola will mind that the player did not get his instructions as long as he continues to deliver the goods. For a man brought in to replace Aymeric Laporte, he has done quite well.

The Croatian has proved very instrumental this season filling in as John Stones and Nathan Ake have struggled with injuries.

At just 22, he still has a lot to offer as he can grow to become even better and a bigger influence in the team for years to come.
