The document discusses various treatments for burn wounds including excision and grafting, cultured epithelial autografts, and the temporary skin substitute TransCyte. Excision and grafting involves removing dead tissue (eschar) and placing skin grafts to promote healing. Cultured epithelial autografts grow a patient's own skin cells into a sheet for grafting to help cover large burns. TransCyte is a bilayer synthetic skin substitute that provides a barrier and stimulates healing until the wound re-epithelializes and can be grafted.
This document provides an introduction to suturing for non-clinical providers who may need to suture a laceration in an austere environment. It covers choosing suture materials and size, wound preparation including irrigation and anesthesia, and suturing techniques like simple interrupted sutures. The goal is for participants to learn how to appropriately close wounds through both discussion and practice on pig feet.

Suturing is used to close skin lacerations through the dermis. The basic steps for wound closure are hemostasis, local anesthesia, cleansing, creating a sterile field, choosing a closure method, and covering the wound. Suture selection depends on the location and depth of the wound. Common suture techniques include simple interrupted, horizontal mattress, two-step stitch, and vertical mattress sutures. Suture materials come in dissolving or non-dissolving varieties and different sizes are used for specific body areas.
This document provides instructions for performing back care and massage. It defines back care as cleaning and massaging the back with special attention to pressure points to relax the client. The purposes of back care are listed as improving circulation, refreshing mood, and relieving fatigue, pain, and stress. The procedure outlines the necessary equipment, positioning the client, cleansing and massaging the back using specific movements, and documenting the care.
Breast reduction and breast lift procedures are described. Breast reduction involves removing excess breast tissue and fat to reduce breast size, sometimes including a breast lift. A breast lift involves a single incision around the areola and down to the breast crease to lift the breasts. Some cases allow removing fat via liposuction then reducing breast size to minimize scarring. Risks include infection, fluid accumulation, skin issues, asymmetry, and need for further procedures. Recovery is 3 to 7 days before returning to work and 2 to 3 weeks for more strenuous activity, with swelling taking 3 to 6 months to fully subside. Results last permanently.
Dermaxin is a skincare product that provides wrinkle reduction without injections. It firms skin by 40% within 10 minutes of use and reduces fine lines and wrinkles by 33% and improves skin smoothness by 45% within 4 weeks. Dermaxin re-energizes skin for both instant and long-term beauty benefits without needles.
Intradermal injections are administered just below the epidermis into the dermis. They have the longest absorption time of all parenteral routes, so they are used for sensitivity tests and local anesthesia. The small dose is injected at a shallow angle of 5 to 15 degrees using a tuberculin syringe and small gauge needle. Proper sites are assessed and precautions are taken to safely perform the injection.
local anesthesia for dental child patientRashaHatem2
The document discusses techniques for providing local anesthesia to children during dental procedures, including using topical anesthetics to numb the injection site, distracting the child during needle insertion, slowly injecting small amounts of local anesthetic, and advising the child on what numbness to expect. It also recommends infiltration over nerve block anesthesia for young children's lower molars and intrapapillary over palatal injections in the upper jaw.
This document provides information on various non-surgical cosmetic procedures to prevent wrinkles and treat the signs of aging. It discusses taking antioxidants and wearing sunscreen to prevent wrinkles. It also describes Botox injections and thread lifts to treat wrinkles as well as laser treatments, micro-needling, and fillers to treat other areas of the face and body like lips, hair, and skin. Most procedures have minimal downtime and side effects. Regular use of these procedures can help delay the signs of aging.
Back care ppt and back care steps nursing procedure Narvat Patel
This document provides information on back care, including its definition, purposes, contraindications, necessary articles, and procedures. Back care involves cleaning and massaging the back, paying attention to pressure points, to stimulate blood circulation, prevent bedsores, relax tension, and promote rest and sleep. The procedure section outlines specific massage techniques - effleurage, friction, tapotement, vibration, and kneading - used to massage the entire back.
This document discusses protocols for wound debridement. It defines debridement as removing dead, contaminated, or adherent tissue from a wound to facilitate healing. The main types of debridement covered are mechanical, enzymatic, sharp, autolytic, and biologic. Characteristics of necrotic tissue like color, consistency, and adherence are reviewed. Protocols for sharp debridement emphasize preparing the patient, thoroughly removing necrotic tissue from the wound base outward until bleeding edges are seen, and irrigating and dressing the wound. The goal of debridement is to remove barriers to healing and reduce the bacterial burden.
This document provides a checklist for back care procedures in a hospital setting. The purpose is to prevent bed sores, stimulate blood circulation, detect early signs of bed sores, and relieve pressure on pressure points. The checklist outlines the necessary equipment, pre-procedural steps like assessing the patient's condition and explaining the procedure, intra-procedural steps of massaging and cleaning the back using different strokes, and post-procedural steps such as changing linens and documenting the procedure. Massage techniques described include effleurage, friction, petrissage, tapotement, vibration, kneading, and cupping.
Fractional co2 laser operation instructionMindy Ma
1) The document provides instructions for pre-operation, operation procedure, post-operation care for fractional CO2 laser treatment. Patients are advised to avoid medications and smoking before treatment and have someone accompany them after.
2) The operation involves cleaning the skin, applying anesthetic, using the fractional CO2 laser at various settings depending on the treatment area and condition, and applying cold air and post-treatment laser for comfort and healing.
3) Post-treatment patients can expect redness, peeling and a burning sensation that lasts hours while healing over days. They are advised to keep the area moisturized and avoid sun exposure while it heals.
This document discusses burn management principles including wound care, skin grafts, and management of critical areas. Burn wounds should be excised and grafted early to prevent infection and allow donor sites to re-crop. Excision can be done tangentially by removing thin layers, or with fascial excision for deep burns. Grafts are placed on prepared beds and sutured for important areas like the face. Superficial burns of the face, ears and eyes are treated differently than deeper injuries to prevent further damage.
The document provides information about various cosmetic procedures available in India. It notes that the cosmetic industry size in India is 4.6 billion USD, growing at 20% annually. Here is all about laser therapy. These slides contain all about laser in the field of healthcare and treatment. Role of laser in the physical therapy field. I hope these slides helps you to learn more about laser therapy and its benefits.
1. Laser treatment can be used for face rejuvenation through either ablative or non-ablative procedures. Ablative procedures completely remove the epidermis and damage the dermis, resulting in more dramatic effects but longer recovery times. Non-ablative procedures heat the dermis without damaging the epidermis, providing more subtle effects with little to no downtime.
2. Proper patient evaluation and expectations are important to determine whether ablative or non-ablative treatment is appropriate. Non-ablative treatments require multiple sessions to achieve results gradually over time with minimal risks, making them better for some skin types and goals. Ablative treatments carry higher risks like scarring and pigmentation changes.
The document summarizes an advanced body contouring system called Med Contour that uses low-frequency ultrasound for fat reduction. It lifts adipose tissue to allow ultrasounds to focus on targeted areas to remove cellulite and fat. Cavitation microbubbles implode inside fat, fluidifying it and making fat expulsion easier. Clinical results show an average abdominal reduction of over 3cm after one treatment and up to 9cm in some patients. The system is safe, effective, and approved for body sculpting treatments.
Increasingly, patients are demanding not only enhancements to their dental (micro) esthetics but also to their overall facial (macro) esthetics.

Laser Wrinkle Removal Procedures - Know Your Optionsrhroach1
There are several laser techniques for removing wrinkles. CO2 laser resurfacing uses laser beams to remove layers of wrinkled skin, allowing new skin to form with fewer wrinkles. It is effective for moderate to deep wrinkles but has a longer recovery time of two weeks. Erbium laser resurfacing removes mild to moderate wrinkles with less side effects and shorter recovery than CO2 laser. Cool touch laser targets superficial wrinkles by stimulating collagen without damaging skin. It requires no recovery time but may require multiple treatments to see results. Laser wrinkle removal procedures use laser heat to stimulate collagen production and remove damaged skin layers to tighten and rejuvenate the skin.

Hepatocarcinoma today between guidelines and medical therapy. The role of sur...Gian Luca Grazi
Today more than ever, hepatocellular carcinoma therapy is experiencing profound and substantial changes.
The association atezolizumab (ATEZO) plus bevacizumab (BEVA) has demonstrated its effectiveness in the post-operative treatment of patients, improving the results that can be achieved with liver resections. This after the failure of the use of sorafenib in the already historic STORM study.
On the other hand, the prognostic classification of BCLC is now widely questioned. It is now well recognized that the indications for surgery for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma are certainly narrow in BCLC and no longer reflect what is common everyday clinical practice.
Today, the concept of multiparametric therapeutic hierarchy, which makes the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma much more flexible and allows the best therapy for the individual patient to be identified based on their clinical characteristics, is gaining more and more importance.
The presentation traces these profound changes that are taking place in recent years and offers a modern vision of the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

A comparative study on uroculturome antimicrobial susceptibility in apparentl...Bhoj Raj Singh
The uroculturome indicates the profile of culturable microbes inhabiting the urinary tract, and it is often required to do a urine culture to find an effective antimicrobial to treat UTIs. This study targeted to understand the profile of culturable pathogens in the urine of apparently healthy (128) and humans with clinical UTIs (161). In urine samples from UTI cases, microbial counts were 1.2×104 ± 6.02×103 colony-forming units (cfu)/ mL, while in urine samples from apparently healthy humans, the average count was 3.33± 1.34×103 cfu/ mL. In eight samples (six from UTI cases and two from apparently healthy people) of urine, Candida (C. albicans 3, C. catenulata 1, C. krusei 1, C. tropicalis 1, C. parapsiplosis 1, C. gulliermondii 1) and Rhizopus species (1) were detected. Candida krusei was detected only in a single urine sample from a healthy person and C. albicans was detected both in urine of healthy and clinical UTI cases. Fungal strains were always detected with one or more types of bacteria. Gram-positive bacteria were more commonly (OR, 1.98; CI99, 1.01-3.87) detected in urine samples of apparently healthy humans, and Gram -ve bacteria (OR, 2.74; CI99, 1.44-5.23) in urines of UTI cases. From urine samples of 161 UTI cases, a total of 90 different types of microbes were detected and, 73 samples had only a single type of bacteria. In contrast, 49, 29, 3, 4, 1, and 2 samples had 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 types of bacteria, respectively. The most common bacteria detected in urine of UTI cases was Escherichia coli detected in 52 samples, in 20 cases as the single type of bacteria, other 34 types of bacteria were detected in pure form in 53 cases. From 128 urine samples of apparently healthy people, 88 types of microbes were detected either singly or in association with others, from 64 urine samples only a single type of bacteria was detected while 34, 13, 3, 11, 2 and 1 samples yielded 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and seven types of microbes, respectively. In the urine of apparently healthy humans too, E. coli was the most common bacteria, detected in pure culture from 10 samples followed by Staphylococcus haemolyticus (9), S. intermedius (5), and S. aureus (5), and similar types of bacteria also dominated in cases of mixed occurrence, E. coli was detected in 26, S. aureus in 22 and S. haemolyticus in 19 urine samples, respectively. Gram +ve bacteria isolated from urine samples' irrespective of health status were more often (p, <0.01) resistant than Gram -ve bacteria to ajowan oil, holy basil oil, cinnamaldehyde, and cinnamon oil, but more susceptible to sandalwood oil (p, <0.01). However, for antibiotics, Gram +ve were more often susceptible than Gram -ve bacteria to cephalosporins, doxycycline, and nitrofurantoin. The study concludes that to understand the role of good and bad bacteria in the urinary tract microbiome more targeted studies are needed to discern the isolates at the pathotype level.
Mainstreaming #CleanLanguage in healthcare.pptxJudy Rees
In healthcare, every day, millions of conversations fail. They fail to cover what’s really important, fail to resolve key issues, miss the point and lead to misunderstandings and disagreements.
Clean Language is one approach that can improve things. It’s a set of precise questions – and a way of asking them – which help us all get clear on what matters, what we’d like to have happen, and what’s needed.
Around 1000 people working in healthcare have trained in Clean Language skills over the past 20+ years. People are using what they’ve learnt, in their own spheres, and share anecdotes of significant successes. But the various local initiatives have not scaled, nor connected with each other, and learning has not been widely shared.
This project, which emerged from work done by the NHS England South-West End-Of-Life Network, with help from the Q Community and especially Hesham Abdalla, aims to fix that.

1. Treatment for Excessive Sweating
Treatment for Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating is a common problem amongst both male and female and is
technically termed as hyperhidrosis. The sweating can be on various parts of the body but
tends to be common on the fair and hairline area, groin and primarily the underarms.
Sweating is a completely natural body function that occurs to regulate body temperature
but when it is excessive it is termed as hyperhidrosis.
Cause of Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis can be classified dependent on the time of onset and can be either
congenital or acquired. Focal hyperhidrosis is found to commence during adolescence or
in some cases before and seems to be an inherited genetic trait. Secondary hyperhidrosis,
which can start at any point in life. This can be due to a disorder of the thyroid or
pituitary glands, diabetes, tumours, menopause or certain drugs.
Surgical Options
Laser Sweat Ablation – provides a long term permanent improvement
Laser sweat ablation works by destroying and removing the eccrine glands in the affected
area and is generally used to treat the underarms. It provides a permanent solution to
hyperhidrosis.
The procedure can be carried out in a normal clinic by a doctor or cosmetic surgeon. In
order to determine the areas to be treated a sweat test is first carried out which determines
the areas of the underarms that require the most treatment. These areas are then marked
before the patient is injected with a local anaesthetic to numb the area for treatment.
Small incisions, approximately 2 to 3 millimetres in length are created in the underarms
and the skin is separated from the underlying layer of fat. An infrared laser fibre is then
inserted into the incisions and discharged, destroying the eccrine glands that are present
in the underside area of the skin.
Once the glands are destroyed, the doctor then removes the dead tissue by use of a
suction before the underarm skin is arranged back in place. The incisions are not large
2. enough to require stitches so a compression bandage is applied to the area to ensure
correct healing. The entire procedure usually takes 1-2 hours.
Recovery from Laser Sweat Ablation
Pain, bruising and numbness may occur after laser sweat ablation but this is temporary.
There is also a risk of loss of pigmentation in the area. The doctor often prescribes
antibiotics to prevent any infection from occurring.
Vaser Sweat Ablation – provides a long term permanent improvement
Vaser Sweat Ablation is a newer treatment and performed whilst the patient is under a
light sedation. It provides a permanent solution to hyperhidrosis utilising ultrasound
technology.
The process for laser sweat ablation is a very simple one with the doctor first injecting a
tumescent fluid into the underarm area of the patient: this will allow the ultrasonic waves
to pass through the liquid more readily that through a solid material. The ultrasonic
waves are set at a specific frequency to kill the sweat gladdens without damage to the
surrounding tissue in the area. The dead tissue is suctioned out of the area with one stitch
only required to close the area. The procedure takes around 30 minutes and the sweat is
moderated with minimal downtime to the patient.
As with Laser Sweat Ablation there may be some swelling and bruising to the area which
will dissipate within 5-7 days. Antibiotics may be prescribed by the doctor to aid with
wound healing
Non-Surgical Options
Anti Sweating Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections, normally utilised to help reduce facial wrinkles can also be used
to stop sweating. Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used for the treatment of
hyperhidrosis, specifically in the underarms, face and scalp areas. It can also be used in
the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet, but is painful to inject in this area and
will require some form of sedation . The underarms and scalp area can be treated using a
local anaesthetic cream.
The Anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking the nerve signal to the sweat glands in the
area it is injected into. Commonly 100 units are used for the underarm area.
After application of anaesthetic cream, a starch-iodine test is usually performed. This
involves putting iodine on the area to be treated and allowing the patient to sweat for
3. short period of time. Starch is then placed on the area and the sweaty areas highlight in
black and identified for treatment with the injections
The anti wrinkle injection is then injected superficially into the area with numerous small
injections. The process takes around 30-60 minutes depending upon the size of the area
requiring treatment. The effects take around 3-10 days to be noticed with full effects
within 2 weeks. Ant wrinkle injections last for between 8 weeks to 4 months depending
upon the client and then must be repeated.
There is usually no down time with anti-wrinkle injections and patients can return to
normal life immediately following treatment.
