It explains that listening without judgment and taking the perspective of the other person is key to effective communication. Some poor listening styles like spacing out, pretending to listen, and being self-centered are identified. The overall message is that understanding others is vital for good communication and having influence.
Habit 5 discusses the importance of listening before speaking in order to understand others. It identifies five poor listening styles such as spacing out or only hearing what interests you. Introduction to the 7 habits of highly effectiveVignesh Kumar
The document provides an overview of Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People". It discusses the development of habits and how personality is formed by character. It outlines four levels of leadership and explains the maturity continuum. Key concepts include developing an emotional bank account and maintaining trust in relationships. The seven habits are then summarized, including being proactive, beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, thinking win-win, seeking first to understand others, and synergizing to find cooperative solutions.
The document discusses changing one's perspective from a reactive state to a proactive state by choosing different approaches, controlling one's own feelings, and making choices rather than feeling unable or dwelling on hypotheticals.
This document discusses Stephen Covey's habit of thinking win-win. It provides examples of win-win and non-win-win thinking. It encourages seeing others' success as your own success and finding solutions where all parties achieve their goals. It advises being confident rather than letting others dictate your self-worth, and suggests activities for students to reflect on win-win thinking in their own lives.
This document summarizes key concepts from a course on personal growth. It discusses the first four habits: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, and think win-win. For habit 1, it explains that being proactive means taking responsibility for yourself and your life. Habit 2 discusses creating a personal mission statement and discovering your talents to begin with the end in mind. Habit 3 explains prioritizing important over urgent tasks using time quadrants. Habit 4 outlines different relationship attitudes like win-lose, lose-win, lose-lose and emphasizes thinking win-win to believe everyone can win.
The document provides tips for improving conversation skills, including body language, listening skills, asking questions, sharing information about yourself, and closing conversations positively. Some key points covered include smiling and making eye contact to appear friendly; asking open-ended questions; balancing speaking and listening; discussing common interests; and ending conversations by restating something interesting the other person said and setting the expectation to talk again soon. The document also discusses overcoming conversational hangups like arguing or stereotyping others, as well as cultural differences to be aware of when speaking to people from other backgrounds.
This document discusses the importance of self-renewal and continuous improvement, known as "sharpening the saw", based on Stephen Covey's work. It provides journal prompts to help the reader reflect on how they take care of their body, brain, soul, and serve others. It encourages developing habits like eating right, exercising, spending time with loved ones, and learning new things to strengthen the saw, or oneself, on an ongoing basis. Failing to sharpen the saw regularly leads to ineffectiveness, just as letting a saw get dull makes it unable to cut through wood. The document aims to inspire the reader to continuously improve and feed all aspects of who they are.
This document provides guidance on habit #2 from Stephen Covey's 7 Habits - Begin with the End in Mind. It includes exercises like drawing a picture of yourself, writing what you want others to say about you in 10 years, making lists of who you are and who you want to be to create a mission statement, and reflecting on how saying "no" can help with having the end in mind. The purpose is to help students think about their goals and values so they can plan backwards to achieve what really matters to them.
The document outlines the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens which are principles to help teens make better choices. The habits teach teens to be proactive, have goals and priorities, seek mutual understanding with others, continuously improve themselves, and make decisions based on principles rather than reactions. Following the habits can result in teens being more engaged, responsible, confident, and able to work with others to solve problems and achieve more.
The document summarizes Stephen R. Covey's book "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" which outlines seven habits that effective people practice. The habits are: 1) Be Proactive by taking responsibility for your own life instead of reacting to outside forces. 2) Begin with the End in Mind by visualizing your goals and planning backwards. 3) Put First Things First by prioritizing important tasks. 4) Think Win-Win by having a cooperative mindset. 5) Seek First to Understand others by listening empathetically. 6) Synergize by recognizing the potential in differences between people. 7) Sharpen the Saw by continuously improving yourself physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
This document discusses different attitudes towards life and relationships: win-lose, lose-win, and win-win. Win-lose has a competitive attitude where one person's gain comes at another's expense. Lose-win is weak and people take advantage. Win-win believes everyone can benefit and there is abundance for all if a cooperative approach is taken. The document provides examples and strategies for thinking win-win, including securing personal confidence and avoiding unhealthy comparison and competition with others.
The document discusses different attitudes in relationships: win-lose (competitive), lose-win (doormat), lose-lose (destructive), and win-win (cooperative). Win-lose focuses on winning at all costs without concern for others. Lose-win is weak and allows others to take advantage. Lose-lose leads to conflict where no one benefits. Win-win believes all people can succeed through cooperation where relationships are valued over competition. The best approach depends on each situation.
The document discusses the principles and habits of effective people from Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People". It outlines four key principles: 1) Taking responsibility for your choices, 2) Mental creation preceding physical creation, 3) Acting with integrity on your priorities, and 4) Effective relationships requiring mutual respect and benefit. It then focuses on Habit 4 of thinking "win-win", where effective people have an abundance mentality, seek mutual benefit in relationships, and build systems that benefit all parties involved.
This document discusses how to be proactive. It defines being proactive as taking conscious control over your life by setting goals and working to achieve them, rather than reacting to events or waiting for opportunities. It lists signs of proactive people as having self-awareness, conscience, creative imagination, and independent will. The document provides examples of reactive versus proactive language and explains how being proactive pays off by focusing on things one can control and taking responsibility for their choices.
Habit 3 from Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits for Effective People" focuses on prioritizing tasks using a time management matrix. The matrix divides tasks into quadrants of urgency and importance - the ideal is to spend most time in the "prosperity quadrant" of important but not urgent planning tasks. Covey encourages managing daily urgent tasks efficiently, minimizing inefficient tasks, and eliminating wasteful tasks to better focus on important planning and relationship-building work.
The document discusses strategies for prioritizing important tasks and putting first things first. It recommends (1) identifying key priorities using a "rocks, pebbles, sand" analogy, (2) planning weekly around priorities while remaining flexible to adapt daily, and (3) overcoming fear and peer pressure by stepping outside one's comfort zone to seize opportunities. The goal is organizing one's time to first accomplish what matters most.
Habit 1 discusses being proactive, which means taking responsibility for your own behavior and decisions rather than blaming external factors. Proactive people make conscious choices based on their values, while reactive people blame conditions and other people. The document emphasizes that we have freedom to choose our responses and that what matters most is how we respond to life's experiences. It encourages focusing on the things we can control within our circle of influence.
This document provides guidance on habit #3 from Stephen Covey's 7 Habits - Putting First Things First. It discusses spending time on priorities by saying no to unimportant tasks, setting goals, and making schedules. Examples are given of home and school goals, as well as strategies for overcoming fears that prevent achieving goals. The importance of planning time for big priorities before small tasks is covered, along with identifying time wasters. Methods for organizing your day and achieving goals are outlined.
The document discusses the importance of listening skills in communication. It identifies five poor listening skills: spacing out, pretend listening, selective listening, word listening, and self-centered listening. It then recommends practicing genuine listening by listening with your eyes, heart and ears, standing in the other person's shoes, and mirroring what they say. The document emphasizes that truly understanding others is key to effective communication and building strong relationships.

The document discusses the concepts of empathic listening and seeking first to understand from Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Barriers to effective listening include physiological, physical, attitudinal, cultural, gender-based factors as well as a lack of training and bad habits. Overcoming barriers requires stopping talking, putting people at ease, showing interest, and removing distractions.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood® is the propensity for paying attention to others' thoughts and sentiments. Seeing things from their viewpoints is difficult. I pay attention to others without intruding. It's tied in with being certain about voicing your thoughts.

It also discusses 5 levels of listening, from ignoring to empathic listening. Barriers to listening include distractions, noise, mindset, interrupting, and physical state. Improving listening involves paraphrasing, eye contact, posture, open questions, remembering details, nodding, and mirroring. The document also discusses reading multi-syllable words and providing direct instruction and practice to develop this skill.

The document discusses whether humans are born good or evil by nature. It presents several true/false statements about human nature for the reader to consider, such as that evil thoughts come from the heart so humans are not naturally good. It also notes that the Bible says humans are created in God's image but have sinful natures. The document suggests humans have bad tendencies from within and need to accept Christ to become new creations. It poses discussion questions about whether technology or education alone can solve humanity's evil nature or if society needs something more.
This document discusses the concept of thinking "win-win" from Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It explains that win-win thinking seeks mutual benefit and respect in all interactions, rather than being selfish or martyr-like. It involves thinking interdependently and finding solutions that benefit all parties. In contrast, it describes win-lose thinking as trying to get ahead at others' expense, and lose-win thinking as being weak and easily taken advantage of. It encourages developing a win-win attitude by focusing on personal growth and finding solutions where everyone wins.
This document summarizes Stephen Covey's third habit of putting first things first. It discusses managing time effectively by prioritizing important over urgent tasks. The document discusses different attitudes in relationships and their outcomes:
- Win-lose sees life as a limited resource where one must win at the expense of others through pride and selfishness.
- Lose-win leads one to compromise standards and allow others to take advantage.
- Lose-lose is the result when two win-lose people interact or become negatively obsessed with each other.
- Win-win believes there is enough success for all where one does not win at the expense of others through avoiding competition and comparison that breed insecurity. Developing a win-win attitude brings confidence through helping others succeed.

The seminar highlights Jesus' fulfillment of over 300 prophecies and his atoning death to save humanity from sin and give eternal life to those who accept him.

It discusses that one must first repent of their sins, then believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and finally be baptized. It provides several Bible verses to support each step. Overall, the document teaches that through repentance, belief in Jesus, baptism, and living righteously one can be saved.
The document discusses the biblical Sabbath day and examines verses related to whether the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday. It notes that Jesus and his followers observed the seventh-day Sabbath, and that the New Testament records Sabbath keeping by Christians decades after the resurrection. While some verses are presented as possibly supporting Sunday observance, the document argues that none change the Sabbath or command its observance on Sunday. It concludes that the Sabbath remains on the seventh day according to Scripture.
1. The document discusses the end times events of the tribulation, second coming of Christ, and rapture.
2. It argues that many Christians are confused about the order and nature of these events due to false teachings such as dispensationalism and a secret pre-tribulation rapture.
3. The biblical evidence presented suggests the events will occur as a visible, audible, and climactic second coming of Christ followed by the rapture and resurrection of believers, not as a secret rapture before a 7-year tribulation.
This document provides an overview of the sanctuary and its services as described in the books of Exodus and Hebrews. It begins with a description of the furniture and implements in the earthly sanctuary, including the altar of sacrifice, laver, table of showbread, altar of incense, candlestick, and ark of the covenant. Each of these items is then connected to aspects of Christ's ministry, such as His sacrifice, baptism, role as bread of life, intercession, and role as the light of the world. The sanctuary services are then related to the gospel plan of salvation and God's desire to dwell among His people. In summary, the document uses the biblical sanctuary to illustrate important theological truths about Christ and His

PATIENCE -The road to wisdom............RIYAPAWASHE
“One minute of patience, ten years of peace.” “With love and patience, nothing is impossible.” “Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” “Patience is the best remedy for every trouble.”
3. “Before I can walk ‘n another’s shoes, I must first remove
ray own.”
-Unknown
4. The key to communication and having power and influence
with people can be summed up in one sentence: “Seek first to
understand, then to be understood”. Listen first, talk second.
If you see things from another’s point of view before sharing your own a
whole new world will be opened to you.
5. Why is this habit the key to communication?
- Its because the deepest need to human heart is to be
understood.
“Everyone wants to be who they are.”
6. You can show your care by simply taking time
to listen without judging and without giving
advice.
7. Five Poor Listening Styles
- Spacing out
- Pretend listening
- Selective listening
- Word listening
- Self-centered listening
8. Spacing Out is when someone is talking to us but
we ignore them because our mind is in another galaxy.
Preten listening is when we doesn’t pay much
attention but pretend to be by saying “yeah” or “uhhuh”
“cool”
9. Selective listening is where we pay attention
only to the part of the conversation that interests us.
10. Word listening occurs when we actually pay
attention to what someone is saying, but we listen only to
the words, not to the body language, the
feelings, or the true meaning behind the words.
12. Sometimes, as we listen to others, we make
judgments (in the back of our minds) about
them and what they’re saying.People don’t
want to be judged, they want to be heard.
13. Probing occurs when you try to dig up
emotions before people are ready to share
them.
14. GENUINE LISTENING
First, listen with your eyes, heart, and ears.
Listening with just your ears isn’t good enough,
because only 7 percent of communication is
contained in the words we use. The rest comes
from body language
(53 percent) and how we say words, or the tone
and feeling reflected in our voice (40 percent).
15. Second, stand in their shoes. You must try to
see the world as they see it and try to feel as
they feel.
16. Third, practice mirroring. Think like a mirror.
Repeat back in your own words what the other
person is saying and feeling.
17. Your GOAL is to REPEAT back in your own words what
another person is SAYING and FEELING.
18. If you have both the ATTITUDE and the SKILL, you
will become a POWERFUL COMMUNICATOR!
