After their first off day in nearly two-and-a-half weeks, the San Francisco Giants are back in action tonight. And they’re facing a Colorado Rockies team that is shockingly the hottest team in baseball, having not lost since the Giants beat them eight games ago.

Before the game, the Giants made a handful of moves, and added two players to the roster: designated hitter Jorge Soler, who was activated from the 10-Day Injured List after a pair of rehab games, and right-handed pitcher Mason Black, who was recalled and will get the start. The corresponding moves were to place fellow right-handed pitcher Keaton Winn on the 15-Day Injured List and to option infielder Casey Schmitt to AAA Sacramento. Optioning Schmitt is particularly noteworthy, because it means the Giants are going to turn to Marco Luciano to be the (near) everyday shortstop for a while. That’s exciting!

Black heads to the mound for his third career game, and is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA, a 6.81 FIP, and six strikeouts to five walks in 8.2 innings, though he’s certainly been better than those numbers suggest. He was very solid in his last outing, giving up just one run in 4.1 innings against the Cincinnati Reds.

On the other side is righty Ryan Feltner, who makes his ninth start of the year. Feltner is 1-3 this season, with a 5.20 ERA, a 3.72 FIP, and 40 strikeouts to 12 walks in 45 innings. He had a very nice start his last time out, holding the Texas Rangers to two runs over six innings.

Enjoy the game, Giants fans! Go Giants!
