Moonlighting in Vermont (The Bree MacGowan Series) - Mystery

Moonlighting in Vermont
Sometimes a girl just has to get dirty

Professionally formatted 9/12 to reduce errors on the Kindle

The first in the Bree MacGowan Series

Winner of the 2009 Daphne De Maurier Award for excellence in Mystery and Suspense, Mainstream division.

"... it was hard to put this one down! ...George's heroine is a fictional treasure that is strong-willed, self sufficient, and not easily derailed!" - BJ Scott, Manchester Examiner

TROUBLE FOLLOWS SOME WOMEN...

Bella Bree MacGowan is your average country girl. She works two jobs to support her farm and the menagerie of stray animals that accumulate there; she's almost always covered in mud; and everyone in her small town of South Royalton, Vermont, feels free to comment on everything from her love life ("That Jim just isn't right for you!") to her expired inspection sticker ("Better get that car looked at!"). Is there any such thing as privacy anymore?

... BUT IT FELL IN LOVE WITH BREE MACGOWAN.

When Bree finds a dead body at the five-star resort where she moonlights as a maid, her life careens out of control. Her lawyer boyfriend, Jim, dumps her; the surly and sensual investigating officer, Lieutenant Miles Brooks, keeps giving her the beady eyeball; and a reporter at the paper where she works names Bree as the primary suspect in the murder! Can your average hard-working country girl prove her innocence, rein in a love life gone wild, and maintain her sanity all at the same time?

Favorite Farmers Market Recipes - Cooking

Great tasting recipes for Fruits and Veggies that can be found at Farmers Markets.

Tasty food dishes that are a treat to eat. Made from fresh goodies such as, Apples, Beets, and Cabbage to Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Zucchini, and other vegetables and fruits that you can find at a Farmers Market.

LOVE LETTERS, INC. - Romance

LOVE LETTERS, INC.
Previously published as Summer Love.

When I wrote this book, I wanted to write about a smart, funny, capable woman who's decided-and determined-to make ¬motherhood her career. Enter Rosie O'Hanlon. Rosie wants kids. Lots of kids. And she wants a man who'll value home, hearth, and a horde of happy children as much as she does. But, hey, this is the 21st century, full-throttle motherhood can be a tough sell at the best of times, and right now she's sidelined by a neck brace due to some recent surgery. She intends to kick start her search for the ideal father figure the minute the brace comes off.

By day Rosie is a technical writer, by night she's an ink-stained scribe who pens old-fashioned love letters for the romantic at heart. She'd kind of, sort of, hoped LOVE LETTERS, INC. would help pay the groaning mortgage on her aging farm house. Not. But she's enjoying the letter writing too much to stop. She particularly enjoys writing letters for Gardenia to her fiancé Kent Summerton.

The problem is Kent isn't engaged, to Gardenia or anyone else. Kent is the sexy-hot, very much single owner manager of a prestigious local resort. Ambitious, organized, and over-scheduled, Kent does not find the anonymous letters he's receiving from Gardenia amusing. And when they become more and more explicit, he starts to feel a bit...stalked. He decides to track Gardenia down and put a stop to her purple pen.

All roads lead to Rosie, who's not happy to learn she's been duped by Gardenia into writing erotic spam. She's even less happy to be instantly attracted to work-crazed Kent. With his green eyes, chiseled chin, and muscles in all the right places, he might be calendar material, but he's so-o not the man for her, and so-o absolutely not the future father of her many children. After all, a six-pack of abs doesn't trump family values.

Rosie's right. Kent doesn't want a messy passel of kids. Kent wants a successful business, an organized life, and a clean balance sheet. Kids? Time sucks and trouble. This he knows. Or thinks he knows. But Kent doesn't know what trouble is, until he starts wanting what he can't have-Rosie O'Hanlon.

Like Casablanca - Romance

What does internet dating and Casablanca have in common? Nothing, unless you go to Rick's Cafe and find out what antiques dealer and dating blogger, Cat Ryan, is up to.

Cat's doing research for her internet dating blog gig, and the place she chooses to meet her many dates is at Rick's Cafe in Sydney. But what of its disturbingly handsome owner, Rick Blake? Cat wonders what he thinks, seeing her with a different male all the time. What's more, why does this bother Cat so much? It's not like she wants any involvement after her recent break up with Josh, her cheating ex. Besides, it looks like Rick is trying to get back together with his ex-wife, Denise. So Cat decides to play it safe, but her heart has different ideas.

A Purse to Die For - Mystery

What's more treacherous than navigating a pack of society matrons at a designer sale?

Stalking a killer...

When fashionista and television celeb Gina Monroe goes home to attend the funeral of her late grandmother, the last thing she expects to encounter is murder. And the reading of the will is anything but fashionable as unanswered questions arise. Who is the dead woman in the woods behind the family house? And why is she dressed in Milano designer clothes?

With help from her cousin Tony and Detective Rob Dumont, Gina investigates the not-so-model citizens around her. When another murder occurs, a pattern slowly emerges and Gina wonders if her grandmother's death wasn't so natural after all.

Just Add Trouble (Hetta Coffey Mystery Series (Book 3))

Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht and she's not afraid to use it.

A globe-trotting engineer with adventure in her soul, Hetta is determined to solidify her relationship with her long-distance boyfriend, Jenks jenkins. What better place for a romantic interlude than aboard a yacht in Mexico's hauntingly beautiful and solitary Sea of Cortez?

But where Hetta goes, trouble follows, and chaos is sure to ensue. After a run-in with a couple of sea serpents that threaten to rock the boat, she nevertheless decides to take on a project in the port city of Guaymas. After all, Jenks is headed back to Kuwait, so why not cash in on the best of both worlds by making some dough while living aboard her boat in Mexico?

Once again Hetta's indomitablespirit, stubborn independence and penchant for deceit will keep the reader in stitches as she launches herself and her best friend, Jan, into a sea of trouble. A pesky parrot, a drunken aunt, and a shadowy figure who is handsome in a "criminal sort of way" lead to murder, mayhem, kidnapping, and run-ins with several federal agencies on both sides of the border.

The Living Image

Sabrina Miller, a fashion designer in Los Angeles, is stunned when she meets Eve, her own double. The shock turns to terror when she learns that her duplicate was enhanced by a scientist and that there are people intent on killing her to protect their new secret creation. The CIA wants to study her. The Russians wants to abduct her for the technology. The Japanese don't care if they have to tear the woman to pieces--they want to know how she was made

Sabrina flees with the woman as news about a potential new secret weapon for the Defense Department is leaked. An international race begins to acquire the woman, a molecular clone of Sabrina's brain and body, but dramatically changed through advanced computer engineering.

Eve was thrust into a new body. She must learn to learn how to act like a normal human woman to evade those hunting her. To complicate matters she is suddenly receiving mature hormones which play havoc with her logical and biologically enhanced brain function.

Although Sabrina and Eve look alike, there are enormous differences the people hunting them will do anything to possess.

No Place Like Home - A Camilla Randall Mystery (The Camilla Randall Mysteries)

Comedy with a conscience: The uber-rich editor of Home decorating magazine loses everything, including her Ponzi-schemer husband, when their luxury wine-country home mysteriously goes up in flames. But that's just the beginning of Doria's problems.
.
Homeless, destitute, presumed dead and branded a criminal, the once-proud Doria has a crash course in how the other half lives.
.
Meanwhile, reluctant sleuth Camilla Randall is facing homelessness and destitution too, as Doria's husband's schemes unravel and take down innocent bystanders along the way.
.
When the mysterious Mr X. turns up at Camilla's bookstore expressing concern for the local homeless, Camilla is smitten. By now one might think once smitten, twice shy, but for Camilla, the search for love is a constant triumph of hope over experience.
.
As ever, Anne R. Allen weaves a unique blend of crazy characters [Mistress Nightshade, anybody?], crazy situations [would you believe a Colombian drugs cartel?] and laugh-out-loud one-liners that all somehow come together and make perfect sense at the end.
.
Oh, and did we mention the Wizard of Oz?
.
No Place Like Home is the fourth of the Camilla Randall Mysteries, but can be read as a stand-alone novel.

Locally Grown: Portraits of Artisanal Farms from America's Heartland

A couple of the editorial reviews:

"Author Anna Blessing, a freelance writer from Chicago, found [organic farmer Jude] Becker-and 19 other independent farmers-by talking to Chicago-area chefs who use organic and local products.... [Becker] agreed to be part of the book, he said, because, 'it is important for people to understand the cycle of farm to table and how committed farms, chefs and eaters need to be to make the cycle sustainable for all, and I think Anna can show this in her book.'" -Jennifer Miller, Des Moines Register"

KNIGHT'S LATE TRAIN (The E Z Knight Reports) By: Gordon Kessler
From flying a helicopter through a blinding mountain blizzard to running down a blazing train to Hell, E Z Knight is tested more than ever in Knight's Late Train - and somewhere in between he discovers an easy way to join the Mile High Club.

When Doc Knight and his train go missing in a Colorado blizzard, E Z must brave the storm to find his father. In the process, he discovers Doc was involved in something more than conducting trains through the mountains. A hazardous materials train is loaded with highly toxic and explosive gas with a yield that could rival the Hiroshima A-bomb, as well as a yellowcake Betty Crocker wouldn't even think about making. The Thundertrain is headed for Denver, and the madman at the controls is bent on derailing the hazmat freight cars where they will cause the very highest body count. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake.

E Z enlists the help of sexy railroad engineer Rillie Bee Wilde, and finds out she's as feral as her name. She takes him higher than he could ever reach in their helicopter. Soon, they find out who wins when hundreds of tons of locomotive meet a fragile whirlybird and a battle against two dozen mercenaries is waged in the dangerous Slaughterhouse Train Yard.

With the Thundertrain only minutes from killing tens of thousands of innocent citizens, E Z must decide whether to save his father and children, or to try to stop a team of mercenaries from blowing the "Mile High City" to Hell.
The only way to do both is to move a mountain.

More Than Memories - Romance

Can she love him if she can't remember him? Molly Anderson returns "home" to a town she doesn't remember, hoping it will spark a memory. She runs into Trent Williams, a Ridge City police detective, and something else definitely sparks.

He wants to know why she left town, with her parents, but without a word to anyone. She doesn't remember that life. She can only tell him she knew her parents briefly before they died . . . or were murdered, she's not sure. She hopes regaining her memory will help answer that question.

Trent has his own secrets, but they have a mystery to solve. As they work together and Molly meets their old friends, she realizes their relationship went deeper than memories. In fact, she grew up in Ridge City, even though her parents had said they lived there just a few years. How could she have forgotten her lifelong friend and love? Can she love him again if she doesn't remember him? There's also the possibility that she did something awful -- and maybe that's why she's afraid to remember her old life.

Molly knows she wants him now, but the truth might destroy their love.

Wide Awake and Dreaming: A Memoir of Narcolepsy

I bought this when it first came out, and today its free.... while I don't plan to run the Boston Marathon anytime soon, she gives me hope that my recent Narcolepsy diagnosis is just the start of a new chapter on life.

"Julie Flygare was on an ambitious path to success, entering law school at age 22, when narcolepsy destroyed the neurological boundaries between dreaming and reality in her brain. She faced terrifying hallucinations, paralysis and excruciating sleepiness, aspects of dream sleep taking place while wide awake.

Yet, narcolepsy was a wake-up call for Julie. Her illness propelled her onto a journey she never imagined, from lying paralyzed on her apartment floor to dancing euphorically at a nightclub; from the classrooms of Harvard Medical School to the start line of the Boston Marathon.

Wide Awake and Dreaming is a revealing first-hand account of dreams gone wrong with narcolepsy. It's the brave story of one woman trampling over barriers and finding light in the darkest of circumstances."

Happy New Year!

Sway by Amber McRee Turner --thanks, Aunt Oh!
