@LovestoRead....I'm sorry. The other day I reced Sherrilyn Kenyon's books to you. I meant to say Shelly Laurenston. She is the one who writes the shifter books. I also love Sherrilyn Kenyon's books. She writes the Dark Hunter series. I apologize for the mix up.

Someone recd Ivan (Her Russian Protector #1)in thread #2. I was really bored with it and its only ninety pages or so. It was nothing new. Same ole stuff. Shes in trouble, asks bad boy for help. Instant love/attraction, they fool around. He helps her with her problems, saving the day. Also, is super rich and willing to whip out the wallet and help. The end. BORING! Blah, blah nothing I haven't read a million times. :(

Jill, I read Ivan and I wasn't thrilled about it but I read Dimitri and it was great. The story was longer so the author had more time to get a story going plus I could relate to the characters more. I was really happy to see that Yuri's story is coming out May 14th and then Nikolai's story is due out in June. I'm not sure if I can lend Dimitri but if I can, I'd happily lend it to you if you like.

Hi Jill!

I don't know if you're familiar with Lora Leigh's Breed series, but I hear it's similar to that. " A company of scientists have spliced human and animal DNA, creating exotic new species." The H's are ultra jealy/posy - very suited for this thread. I left off @ book 5, but book 3, Valiant was my favorite so far. I plan on finishing the series. I think you'll like them. If you're interested, I'll dig around & see if I have bk 1, "Fury" on my Kindle & loan it to you. I may have it on my nook. I'll check.

My post failed..ugh!

JLC- I have read the breed series but a few newer ones. The get old after awhile and it was time to move on. If you have it, I would love to try it to see if I want to invest in the rest.

Lovestoread- If you say the second is much better and you felt the same way about the first as I did, I think ill give it a try.

Haven't read any of the above posts ... yet.

You are all very talented! That was such a clever way to end the old thread so no one got lost. I learn more about computer use on these discussions than anywhere else.

Thanks for your talents ladies (and guys if there are any).

Jill, I haven't read the breed series, but most of the posters on this thread have indicated that New Species is better. My favorite was Valiant, book 3, but I haven't read them all. I do think it will help to start this series with Fury, book 1, to get the back story and it is a good read as well. I skipped book 2 and didn't feel like I had missed anything.

I would like to know from those who have read them all, which are your favorites and why?

J.- Better? Well good. Like I said the Breed series became Boring after awhile. The first Breed was HOT. Holy fan yourself! If you haven't read them, you should try.

I have a borrowed book to read right now but after I'm done I would like to try the Moon series. Can anyone lend me the first book so I can see if I like it?

I haven't read any PNR before very recently. Because of this thread and "R&R;" thread I have now read 3. The last one was:

Feral Sins: Phoenix Pack, Book 1

If you have never read a shape-shifter novel before this may very well be the perfect book for you. It was for me. The introduction to the characters was gentle and done in a very educational way. Not boring at all, just educational. It seemed like the author provided enough dialogue or action around each of the 'things' in a shape-shifter's life that I was never left wondering what they were talking about. If something new came up (eg. pack alliances) the explanation would be provided somehow in the next 2 or 3 paragraphs. I appreciated that very much. I loved the characters, (in both forms) and thought the story was terrific. The H was swoon worthy but definitely NOT a jerk. The h was an absolute delight, strong, TBTBM(too bright to be missed), sarcastic, witty and very very stable. Her background could have left her a mess, but she just wasn't having any of it. The reason for the H and h to be together was contrived and at first I thought 'oh-oh' but the delight was that they both knew what they were doing, both were determined to follow through and both benefited from the liason. There were no martyrs in this story and very little hand wringing. The only angst was whether the relationship was more than intended for both the H and the h. It was a delightful story...witty, sexy, exciting drama, loyal friends, and a sweet HEA. Recommend it! A solid 4 out of 5.

Finished reading Moon: 10 (New Species) and while he's not as OTT as some of the others in the series (it wouldn't have made sense in the story's context anyway), it was an awesome read. And very inciteful into the history and even the future of the New Species series. It is one of my new favorites in the series.

Re: New Species vs The Breed series. The two are alike in the background story. The writing styles and characters are completely different.

The background story is so similar, I wondered why Leigh didn't put up a fuss about it. But I'm glad she didn't because I like the New Species better at this time. Basically both series have a huge well funded group of scientists doing experiments on splicing human and animal DNA. The results of the experiments are kept in labs like animals and have more experiments done on them. Somewhere along the way this gets out and some of them are freed. In both series the US gov gave money to the group and in order to save face (the gov declares they didn't know the extent of the experiments) they help the escapees (New Species/Breeds) establish a homeland. The scientists are rounded up with some key players escaping.
