KNIGHT’S LATE TRAIN—an Action/Adventure Thriller Novel
With E Z Knight, if a mountain gets in his way, he doesn’t go around it, he blows it up.
From flying a helicopter through a blinding mountain blizzard to running down a blazing train to Hell, E Z Knight is tested more than ever in Knight’s Late Train — and somewhere in between he discovers an easy way to join the Mile High Club.
When Doc Knight and his train go missing in a Colorado blizzard, E Z must brave the storm to find his father. In the process, he discovers Doc was involved in something more than conducting trains through the mountains.
A hazardous materials train is loaded with highly toxic and explosive gas with a yield that could rival the Hiroshima A-bomb, as well as a yellowcake Betty Crocker wouldn’t even think about baking. The Thundertrain is headed for Denver, and the madman at the controls is bent on derailing the hazmat freight cars where they will cause the very highest body count. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake.
E Z enlists the help of sexy railroad engineer Rillie Bee Wilde, and finds out she’s as feral as her name. She takes him higher than he could ever reach in their helicopter. Soon, they find out who wins when hundreds of tons of locomotive meet a fragile whirlybird and a battle against two dozen mercenaries is waged in the dangerous Slaughterhouse Train Yard.
With the Thundertrain only minutes from killing tens of thousands of innocent citizens, E Z must decide whether to save his father and children, or to try to stop a team of mercenaries from blowing the "Mile High City" to Hell.
The only way to do both is to move a mountain.
Knight’s Late Train is an episode of the standalone novels of ”The E Z Knight Reports” series; a sexy, humorous and irreverent series as well as a somewhat realistic and poignant look at the darker side of life, crime and the human condition.
These are great beach and commuter reads—books you'll enjoy on the plane, train or in the car, during business travel as well as on vacation, poolside, while in the hotel, the airport or just waiting in line!
With a modern-day, ramped up "The Rockford Files"/"Magnum PI" feel, a Jack Bauer-capable hero and a "24" pace, this series consists of standalone, page-thrumming novels.
"The E Z Knight Reports" has a special section on the author's website and blog (gordonkessler.com) with info on each of the books, E Z Knight, Jazzy Brass and the "Knight Girls". You'll also find information about the author and his other novels and works.
If you enjoy best-selling action/adventure thriller authors like Don Winslow and Clive Cussler, as well as some of the best thrillers in eBooks by indie authors like John Locke and JA Konrath, you'll love Knight’s Late Train!

NY Times bestselling authors agree:
“…a wild ride…kick-ass…will have you thrumming through the pages well into the night…handled with stunning effect."—James Rollins, author of the thrillers Map of Bones, Black Order, The Doomsday Key, The Devil Colony, Skeleton Key and many more (about Brainstorm).
“…exciting and fast-paced as a thrill ride on a dive bomber, a maelstrom of action, violence, murder and mayhem, way too much fun to put down once you're hooked...frighteningly believable. Kessler is a former US Marine parachutist, recon scout, and 'Super Squad' team leader—and he really knows his stuff."—Douglas Preston, author of the thrillers Relic, The Codex, Book of the Dead, and many more (about Brainstorm).

I've read every installment of Kessler's E Z Knight Reports and I think Knight's Late Train is the best. In E Z's latest adventure, a group of mercenaries have devised a plan to commit the largest terror attack against America since 9/11. The disappearance of his train engineer father leads him to rural Colorado and he's suddenly in the middle of the final stages of the murderous plot against America. The novel is populated with quirky railroad folk you won't forget and bad guys from a threat assessment director's nightmare. An attack on E Z's country, and a threat to his family's safety send him into full-throttle attack mode. Late Train is full of action and sharp dialogue, and, oh yes, trains. What more could you ask for? You will enjoy it.
Knight's Late Train is like the others in the EZ Knight Reports series - a fast-paced and fun romp with action, adventure and a tinge of slightly twisted romance (and no, I ain't talking about what happens to the heli rotors).
Several things I liked about this particular entry in the series were getting to "see" EZ's dad, Doc Knight, as well as his estranged kids. It was also fun seeing how Mr. Kessler kept the parole officer and DA from discovering how badly EZ violated his parole by leaving the State of California to travel to Colorado to rescue Doc and many others from nuclear annihilation. This prequel gives us a chance to explore how EZ ended up on the wrong side of the law in the first place.
I have read all of the books by Gordon and he just seems to be getting better with each one. In KNIGHT'S LATE TRAIN there is plenty of action and more great characters to meet. Loved Doc Knight, E.z.'s dad, and Specks his friend. Once I started reading I could not put it down. Let yourself have some fun and go with E.Z. on a breath taking adventure. to save lives!
I haven't had the pleasure of reading any of Gordon Kesslers books before. It was indeed a pleasure. Fun irreverent and often unexpected but always very entertaining. The writing is very good and characters are well drawn. While the action may feel almost over the top it never quite gets there. Even as a stand one as I have read it, it doesn't suffer in the least, but suspect it would be even better in sequence.
The main character in this story is named E-Z and like a cheap James Bond spoof he comes across as a ladies man who never gets seriously hurt, or even slows down. Even after he falls from a train, crashes in a truck, gets shot and generally things that would kill a mere mortal.... That being said, it's pure fluff. Unbelievable, undeniable in it's simplistic plot and dialogue. Did I enjoy the book? Eh, not really. I spent two hours reading it and found myself thinking of other things I could've been doing instead. I did enjoy the lack of big words, and the fact that the author has turned out a lot, and I mean a lot of books! I guess ten thousand monkees typing ten thousand words... well, eventually I hope Mr. Kessler turns out something more believable and with a little more substance.
The concept of the story is good, the writing is not bad, but for every challenge there is an almost instant solution. Leaves the reader with nothing to think about.
Gordon Kessler is a thriller novelist, living in the Kansas City metro area with his golden retriever, Jazmin (Jazzy Brass). He's taught novel writing for several community colleges, worked over twenty years for the BNSF Railway, and is a former US Marine Recon Scout, Super Squad team leader, parachutist and troop handler. His thriller novels Jezebel, Dead Reckoning, and Brainstorm are all in both paper and eBook. His latest men's action/adventure thriller, Knight's Ransom, was released early 2012. Four or five more in "The E Z Knight Reports" series are scheduled for release yet this year. These novels are about half the size of his big thrillers and are fast, fun reads.
Gordon's also published two short story eBooks: a humorous piece called "Toothpick for Two" and a nostalgic romance called "Jack Knight". Please check them out.
As a consultant and editor on numerous book and eBook projects over the past twenty years, Gordon has published three books for writers. EBook Writing Made Simple focuses on the actual writing of eBook novels and how they can be crafted more effectively for the eBook novel reader rather than as a work written for the traditional publishing industry. How to Write a Novel--Storytelling, the Writer and the EBook Novel is his latest work, published especailly with the beginning eBook novelist in mind.
Gordon is a founder and past president of the Kansas Writers Association, a sixteen-year-old organization of some very special people. Last year, he started a group to help support independent authors called the Indie Writers Alliance--another group of great people.
