Through the destruction of our enemies do we earn our salvation.

The Reversionists are a faction on Cybertron, noted, and largely hated, for their piousnesses. They believe that Cybertron was once Primus, and so that every Cybertronian is in a small way Primus himself, and therefore that deceased Cybertronians ought to be cremated in a plasma pyre to return their substance to Cybertron, hence the name.

They seem to have a penchant for staffs and are known to revere the Titans.

Fiction

2019 IDW continuity

Though Bumblebee considered them to be one of the smaller factions on Cybertron, The World In Your Eyes Part Two the Reversionists had enough of a presence that their leader, Heretech, held a seat on the inner Senate. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four Despite this, the Reversionists were largely disliked as a faction. When Brainstorm was murdered, the Reversionists petitioned Orion Pax to allow one of their number to speak at his funeral and for them to be present at the birth of a new Cybertronian. Though unsympathetic to them, Orion made the compromise, mainly so that the Reversionists would not join the Ascenticons.

When the newborn was forged, the Reversionists stood among the crowd outside the Pyramid, praising Primus. While Rubble could see their viewpoint, Bumblebee scoffed that everything was mystical to a Reversionist. At Brainstorm's funeral, Ironhide noted that the deceased would be appalled to learn a Reversionist was speaking, reiterating the late scientist's opining that the lot of them ought to be shipped off to the most remote colony. The World In Your Eyes Part Four

At the last Senate meeting before Sentinel Prime returned home, Heretech spoke for his faction, though Megatron felt what he had to say was annoyingly repetitive and outdated. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four Following the Prime's return to Cybertron, Prowl informed him of a Reversionist protest at the Tether that was pushing for a unity government. The Change In Your Nature Part One

After Sentinel Prime had asked him to play a role in shutting down the Ascenticon movement, a disgusted Heretech told Megatron of the Prime's intentions and revealed that the Reversionists would soon be leaving Cybertron to seek a fresh start elsewhere. The Change In Your Nature Part Four

Aboard the starship Exodus, the Reversionists prepared to leave their homeworld with their launch gaining the attention of several interested Cybertronians who also sought to flee the increasing civil unrest. When the Tether collapsed and fell onto Iacon, ravaging the city, the Reversionists launched away before the Autobots could lock down space traffic. Arcee/Greenlight: Run

When the Reversionists discovered Gauge and her mentors on board the Exodus, Arcee and Greenlight were immediately imprisoned while Gauge, still young enough to have her memory tampered with, was subject to a memory wipe and assigned to Accelerator who raised her as a curate. A Truth for a Truth

The Reversionists passed the time on their space odyssey by doing chores and attending mass while Heretech spoke of the sorry state that had befallen Cybertron after their absence, Gauging the Truth: Part One as he prepared to return home and begin his followers' "ascension" by "cleansing" their homeworld of the heretical. After Gauge had managed to restore her memories and free her mentors, the Exodus returned to Cybertron. A Truth for a Truth

After making a grand speech, Heretech sent Gauge down to the surface to expose an energon vein which the Exodus' engines would ignite and cleanse the planet of sinners. As the Reversionist invasion of Cybertron began, Gauge made her way to a communications tower to encourage a peaceful compromise. Though she managed to stop the fighting, she made herself a target for a furious Heretch. Aided by Arcee and Greenlight however, Gauge managed to defeat Heretch, lobbing an energon crystal at Heretech's drill-tank mode, the explosion paralyzing the Plenary. In the aftermath, the Reversionists stood down with Accelerator as their new leader. The group dedicated themselves to repairing the Exodus and returning to space, though some chose to remain on Cybertron. Moment of Truth

By the time that the orbits of the Titans had begun to decay, the Reversionists were still living in the Exodus. Escape Part One
