It take while for me Grimlock to settle into character model.

When mysterious tremors shook the Autobot base, Wheeljack's investigation revealed strange objects behind a rock wall. After removing the wall, the Autobots found a cave full of dinosaur bones. The Autobots decided the idea of dinosaurs was interesting and researched the prehistoric beasts. Wheeljack and Ratchet asked Optimus Prime if they could build robot dinosaurs, and Prime agreed this was a good idea, only Primus knows why. Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge were built and unveiled to the Autobots, but the Dinobots were dimwitted and violent, and they attacked their makers, Frankenstein's monster style. Grimlock blasted Teletraan I with his fire-breath, damaging it. Optimus Prime decreed that the Dinobots "must be destroyed." Wheeljack convinced him instead to lock them away, and the trio were herded back into the cave and buried alive.

Mmm, taste like chicken!

Later, the Decepticons took over a hydroelectric plant, and when the Autobots arrived to stop them, the Autobots were defeated and captured. Wheeljack, Ratchet, and Bumblebee, left behind at the Autobot base to finish repairing Teletraan I, decided to go against Optimus' orders and release the Dinobots, but not before upgrading their brains to be smarter and more obedient. After the Dinobots were reactivated, Wheeljack asked them to save their friends. Grimlock said he would obey... this time. They successfully attacked the Decepticons and freed the imprisoned Autobots. Optimus forgave Wheeljack, Ratchet, and Bumblebee for disobeying his orders and welcomed the victorious Dinobots back to the Autobots. S.O.S. Dinobots

After a meteor surging with unknown energies struck the Earth, Optimus ordered the three Dinobots to guard it. He was so pleased with the Dinobots he asked Ratchet and Wheeljack to build two more. Meanwhile, Megatron was frustrated at the Dinobots' success and sent Soundwave to probe them for potential weaknesses. Reading the Dinobots' minds, he discovered that Grimlock was arrogant and believed he would make a better leader than the weak Optimus Prime. Megatron decided to use this to his advantage and approached them himself. He played to Grimlock's jealousy and agreed with him that the strongest should be leader. The Dinobots declared Optimus Prime their enemy.

After he stop shaking hand, me Grimlock going to eat him!

Realizing the meteorite was due to explode, Optimus left to warn the Dinobots, but they attacked him. Instead of destroying him completely, Grimlock carried him to the Decepticons, who had stolen the meteorite during the battle. Megatron was angry that Optimus Prime was not destroyed, and Starscream suggested that despite Grimlock's arrogance, inside he was still compassionate (or as compassionate as Grimlock could get). Grimlock didn't take this well and blasted Starscream right in the chest. They were interrupted by the two new Dinobots, Snarl and Swoop, whom Megatron ordered the original three Dinobots to attack. At the climax of the battle, the meteorite exploded, but Optimus Prime pushed Grimlock out of the way, saving him. Grimlock realized the error of his ways, and the Dinobots forced the Decepticons into retreat. Grimlock then apologized for his jealousy. War of the Dinobots

When Cybertron was brought into Earth's orbit, wreaking havoc, Optimus asked the Dinobots to help control the damage. Grimlock announced he didn't much care if the planet fell apart, but Wheeljack quickly pointed out that he was still on the planet. Defeated by superior logic, Grimlock agreed to help and the Dinobots were soon attempting to stop a tsunami. The Ultimate Doom, Part 2 After Cybertron left Earth's orbit, the Dinobots even helped to rebuild the shattered human cities. Countdown to Extinction

DinobotsG1.jpg

Teletraan I activated the Dinobots when the newly built Constructicons breached Autobot headquarters. With the battle moving outside, Grimlock commanded the Dinobots to transform, only to find themselves facing Devastator. Attempting to bite the combiner, Grimlock was swatted aside. The Dinobots were able to hold Devastator off long enough for the Autobots to discover that Megatron had defeated Optimus by cheating during their single combat. The Autobots were then able to help defeat the Constructicons and the rest of the Decepticons, driving them into a lava-filled chasm. Heavy Metal War

The Decepticons joined forces with Sub-Atlantica and staged a full-scale attack on Washington, D.C.. The Autobots were overwhelmed, forcing Wheeljack to call for the Dinobots' assistance. Grimlock expressed his frustration at being called whenever the Autobots were in over their heads. With their help, the Autobots were able to overturn the Decepticons' advance and plunge the now-burning city of Sub-Atlantica back into the sea. Atlantis, Arise!

Dinobotisland jetpacks.jpg

This pattern of the Autobots' dependence on the Dinobots repeated when the artificial intelligence TORQ III, put under Decepticon control, turned all machines against Mankind. With every piece of help he and his troops gave, Grimlock was never slow to add a scathing remark about the inabilities of the Autobots. Day of the Machines That said, he was not unwilling to admit the failings of his own troops, either. He willingly took them to the time-displaced "Dinobot Island", where they trained in the wilderness Dinobot Island, Part 1 and helped stop a Decepticon raid on the prehistoric paradise, with Grimlock inspiring the native dinosaurs to help them fight the Decepticons. Dinobot Island, Part 2

When the Autobots were "exposed" by Shawn Berger as being the true perpetrators of the various attacks conducted by the Decepticons, they were banished from Earth. Grimlock (and presumably the Dinobots) were among the Autobots that voluntarily stepped onto a rocket that eventually blasted them towards the Sun. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

(thumbnail)
Hmmm... Guns.

The final straw for Grimlock came when he and the Dinobots were injured in a Decepticon trap at an airfield. Enraged, Grimlock refused to take orders from Optimus Prime any more and led the Dinobots away from the Ark. When the Autobots began to suffer from Cybertonium deficiency, Spike Witwicky and his girlfriend Carly attempted to persuade the Dinobots—who continued to function perfectly, as they had been built on Earth without Cybertonium—to steal some of the mineral from a Decepticon shipment coming in from Cybertron. Although Grimlock was willing to let the Autobots die and decided to crush the humans, he recognized the Cybertron connection to the Cybertonium. Instead of securing the element, Grimlock opted to lead the Dinobots to Cybertron itself, where they were captured by Shockwave. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1 He altered the Dinobots' memory circuits and put them to work in the Cybertonium mines, where they remained until Spike and Carly repaired them. Grimlock and Spike faked having an argument, compelling the guards to lower the energy fences to remove the troublesome humans—only to be obliterated by the Dinobots. Grimlock led the group back to Earth, where the Dinobots agreed to follow Prime's orders again—until such time as Grimlock didn't feel like it. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

Me Grimlock mad that name "T-Wrecks" already taken. (Maybe by me Grimlock.)

In the year 2005, Grimlock and the other Dinobots were stationed on the Autobots' Moonbase One, seemingly overseeing weapons production. When word arrived from Earth that Autobot City was suffering a massive Decepticon attack, they traveled to Earth with Optimus Prime and were dispatched by the Autobot leader to take on Devastator. Though they attacked fearlessly, the giant combiner robot was too much for them, shrugging off their attacks and overwhelming them in short order.

ReCycle-smooch.jpg

After fleeing Galvatron's attack on Autobot City, the Dinobots, along with Kup and Hot Rod, crashed on Quintessa, and were separated from the two Autobots. During their search, the Dinobots met Wheelie. Grimlock initially didn't like the rhyming little robot, but soon grew quite fond of him, letting him ride on his back. Eventually, the Dinobots managed to locate where Kup and Hot Rod were being held by the planet's rulers, the Quintessons. The Dinobots entered the Quintessons' execution room with all the grace they could muster, and Grimlock immediately declared his desire to munch metal. After the Dinobots saved Hot Rod and Kup from the Sharkticons, a Quintesson judge ordered the Sharkticons to execute the Dinobots. Grimlock stomped his foot on the ground and ordered the Sharkticons to execute the Quintessons. They complied with the Dinobot's order. Heading for the planet of Junk, Grimlock watched the Autobots and the Junkions celebrate their new friendship. The party ended shortly after Re-Cycle kissed Grimlock, causing him to reassert his status as "king". Later, Grimlock achieved one of his life's greatest accomplishments by literally kicking the butt of a deity, only to realize shortly afterward that he needed a new strategy. The Transformers: The Movie

Grimlock’s involvement in these events, or events mostly similar, were also chronicled in the comic mini-series "Transformers: The Animated Movie" and the storybook "Transformers the Movie."
Grimlock happy.jpg

When Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike were kidnapped, Rodimus Prime took Grimlock on a stealth(!) mission to Chaar, to investigate whether the Decepticons were responsible. The pair found the Decepticons, but realised their eternal foes were far too low on power to have kidnapped anyone. As they discussed the ramifications of their discovery, Grimlock's raised voice alerted the Decepticons, who attacked. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 Despite the Decepticons' depowered state, the pair were overwhelmed, and only the intervention of Springer and Arcee in a stolen Skuxxoid ship saved them. Retiring to a safe location, Grimlock tried unsuccessfully to rouse Rodimus and the Autobots feared that their leader had died. They were overjoyed when he returned to the land of the living, and Grimlock announced he loved Arcee, despite her protests that she hadn't done anything. Following a vision Rodimus had had, they headed for Quintessa, arriving in time to find Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike on trial. Grimlock jumped from Springer's helicopter mode, ready to attack, only for the Quintessons to zoom past him in their haste to escape. He was greatly disappointed. With Quintessa set to explode, the Autobots vacated the planet as well. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2

Springerfivefacescopter.jpg

The destruction of Quintessa destroyed the Autobot rescue ship, sending its occupants hurtling through space to eventually splat-land on the planet Goo. After an altercation with some sort of garbage-processing machine, the Autobots again found themselves under attack by the Decepticons, this time under the control of the Quintessons. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3 Fortunately the Autobots were rescued in short order by the Junkions and taken back to Junk. There Rodimus had another vision, which led them back to Cybertron. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4 Grimlock accompanied Springer and Arcee to Earth, where they attempted to defend Metroplex from Trypticon. They were frozen when Galvatron triggered a Quintesson device, deactivating every Transformer everywhere, and promptly unfrozen when Spike subsequently destroyed the device. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

Enjoying another of Kup's tales about planet Dread, Grimlock asked about Chaos, a monster he'd heard lived there, and Kup told him to forget he ever heard the name. A lead took the Autobots to Goo, where they discovered that the Decepticons had found a source of death crystals. Grimlock and Blurr finally managed to get the truth from Kup—the death crystals were produced by Chaos. The group travelled to Dread, where Grimlock, Wheelie and Wreck Gar were left with Sky Lynx. They soon got bored and found Kup and Blurr in time to save the pair from an attack by the Predacons. The Autobots subsequently attacked the Decepticons, who had been working on a cannon with which they interned to fire death crystals at Cybertron. While Kup entered Queeg Mountain to find Chaos, the other Autobots held off the Predacons. After the Decepticon defeat, Grimlock asked Kup to tell another story. Chaos

When the reanimated Optimus Prime returned to Cybertron and reported the alleged deaths of Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus, Arcee, Spike and Daniel Witwicky, Grimlock angrily swore to stomp the Quintessons into the ground. However, the Dinobots were left behind whilst the rest of the Autobots were led by Optimus Prime into a Quintesson trap. Dark Awakening

Me Grimlock hope they not immortalize this in plastic.

Grimlock helped to sniff out the "dinosaur transform static" that implicated Trypticon in the theft of world monuments, though before the Trypticon link was discovered, Grimlock and the Dinobots were accused of being the culprits by Six-Gun. Thief in the Night Grimlock continued his newfound sense of helpfulness by serving drinks at a major diplomatic event held on Cybertron. When Daniel wandered off in boredom, Grimlock followed his friend and they were both transported to the other-dimensional realm of Menonia, where Grimlock was duped into fighting on the side of the tyrannical Quintesson Mara-Al-Utha. Madman's Paradise

Grimlock was occasionally among the Autobots seen attacking Galvatron's forces in space, and later on the planet Eurythma. Carnage in C-Minor At one point, he was stationed at Autobot City when Victor Drath attempted to infiltrate Metroplex using the lifeless bodies of Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots. The real Ultra Magnus and Springer managed to tip off the Autobots in the city fast enough for them to raise the defenses. Only Human

Grimlock's New Brain Grimlock generator off.JPG

Later in the year, when Decepticon leader Galvatron had Cybertron infused with function-inverting anti-electrons, a dose of the particles gave Grimlock super-intelligence. During a mission to Unicron's disembodied head, where the Autobots were outmatched by the new Decepticon Terrorcons, Grimlock used components of Unicron's head to construct the Technobots to battle them. Even combined as Computron, the Technobots felt they could not match the Terrorcons, until Grimlock transferred his super-intelligence into Computron, reverting to his old self and allowing the Technobots to claim victory. Grimlock's New Brain

Me Grimlock threaten space monkey into giving me Grimlock energon wine.

Grimlock's greatest victory came when he and a large number of other Transformers with animal transformations were summoned to a world at the center of the galaxy by the ex-assistant of the ancient genius, Primacron, creator of Unicron. The assistant had assembled these "Primitive" Transformers in the hope that their simple instincts could defeat Primacron's newest creation, Tornedron, but one by one they fell to him, with Grimlock apparently crushed under Trypticon. Grimlock survived, and followed Tornedron back to Primacron's lab. When Tornedron turned on his master, like his predecessor had, Primacron's complicated plans and equations could not find a way to stop him. Grimlock, on the other hand, randomly flicked a switch which reversed Tornedron's energy polarity, undoing the damage he had done and dissipating the creature. Dancing around over his successful saving of the universe, Grimlock decimated Primacron's lab, which he decided was the smartest thing he'd ever done. Call of the Primitives

Grimlock piloted the shuttle bringing Optimus Prime to an important meeting[1] and took a wrong turn, making Prime very late. Prime subsequently took him to have his brain circuits upgraded. Season 5: Movie, Day Four Later, Tommy Kennedy asked Optimus if Grimlock had been "dropped on his head as a baby". Season 5: Movie, Day Five

Story of Binaltech

(thumbnail)
Me Grimlock built Ford tough!

In 2004, Grimlock and the Dinobots served as the front line and primary strength of the forces led by Optimus Prime, battling on Cybertron to prevent Megatron from taking complete control of the planet. To break the Autobots' war effort, the Decepticons used primitive telepathic alien lifeforms named "Unleashers" to assault the Dinobots' psychically, causing the bestial impulses of their dinosaur modes to overwhelm their minds and driving them into a rampage. Faced with their own potential destruction at the claws and fangs of the rampaging Dinobots, the Autobots were forced to deactivate their out-of-control comrades. Studying Grimlock's brain casing, Wheeljack was able to isolate the psychic sub-routine warping the Dinobots' minds, but its removal proved virtually impossible, thanks in part to the shortage of supplies caused by the war effort. As a stop-gap measure, Wheeljack proposed taking Grimlock's brain casing to Earth and installing it in one of the new "Binaltech" bodies that had been developed there between the Autobots and Earth Defense Command: a body with a vehicular alternate form, thereby removing the corrupting influence of Grimlock's dinosaur mode as a temporary solution until the problem could be permanently fixed. Grimlock grumbled at the notion of losing the power of his dinosaur form, but, eager to get back to fighting, agreed to the process, and Wheeljack promptly sped his brain casing to Earth, where it was installed in a new body styled after a Ford Mustang. Beast in the Machine

BT World

As the Binaltech conflict continued, thanks to the efforts of the time-tossed Decepticon Ravage and the mysterious time- and space-bending entity known as the Protector, its events were ultimately diverged from the mainstream timeline into a parallel universe dubbed the "BT World".

In 2008 of this timeline, Grimlock and Hound were on patrol on Earth when they crossed paths with Bluestreak—but not the Bluestreak of their world. This Bluestreak had traveled across the dimensions, from the mainstream timeline, to inform the Binaltech Autobots that the spark of their Prowl (previously lost in a subspace accident Prowl & Chase) had appeared in his home universe, and begun to destabilize. Grimlock couldn't quite wrap his head around the whole ordeal, and didn't take kindly to Bluestreak's endless waffling as they took him back to Autobot City to explain his story, but he was able to work out his frustrations when they happened upon a rampaging phonon hologram—a malfunctioning science project created by knock-off Binaltech technology. Unfinished Business, Part 1 Grimlock was subsequently part of the Autobot team who tracked down the source of the signal destabilizing Prowl's spark, which proved to be the work of Swindle and Doctor Arkeville, who were using energy from Prowl's spark to power a synthetic electrum giant. Grimlock gave his sword to Jazz, who used it to take out the subspace node on the creature that was channeling Prowl's life-force, shutting it down. Unfinished Business, Part 2

Later, Grimlock was among the Autobot forces who battled Nemesis Prime's Decepticons in Australia. When the battle ended with Nemesis Prime's destruction, the Autobots all rolled for home... but Grimlock couldn't shake the feeling that he had forgotten something very important. Unfinished Business, Part 4

Outlier

Alternity

In the 900,000 years that followed the defeat of the Decepticons, the influence of the Unleashers upon Grimlock and the Dinobots' minds was finally cured. The other Dinobots were brought back online, and Grimlock was reinstated in a brand new tyrannosaurus body, complete with a crown, which he considered a real masterpiece. Subsequently, many of the Autobots upgraded into the hyper-dimensional lifeforms known as the Alternity, but Grimlock apparently declined to take this evolutionary step.

Ascending to a position as defenders of space and time, the Alternity became aware of the Planicrons, two-dimensional lifeforms that were attempting to evolve themselves. Searching for a "gateway" that would permit the Planicrons' evolution when they passed through it, the Alternity contacted the Autobots of the BT World, convinced the gateway was somewhere in their universal stream. Grimlock and the Protector met the small team of Agents who arrived in their world soon after, and informed them that they had identified the gateaway as the circuit diagram for the Critias Gate, a super-dimensional reactor. The diagram was soon used to help the Planicrons evolve into higher-dimensional begins. Alternation

In 2021, Grimlock was among the Autobots under Fortress's command who battled Scorponok's forces near a black hole, where he was seen taking on Octane. The explosion of the black hole caused the combatants' bodies to shrink into nothingness, and they were forced to convert their heads into small Headmaster forms and travel to the Legends World in search of new bodies. Targetmaster Chapter Prologue There, Grimlock abandoned the Autobot Axalon Trading Company in favor of the Astrotrain Transport Company, but left to be a part-time waiter at Starscream's café after Astrotrain's promises of free transtectors turned out to be a trap. There he was approached by Flywheels, who promised him and Brawn new bodies if they got jobs at his new workplace, the Hive shopping center, winning the suspicious Grimlock over with a gift of oil. Once it turned out the Hive's true identity was the evil Scorponok, however, Grimlock determined that a new body wasn't worth it and punched Flywheels in the face. Chromedome then had Butla combine with Grimlock, allowing him to turn into a T. rex again and help defeat Scorponok, though he was unable to separate from Butla afterwards and continued being a waiter in that form. Generations Selects Special Comic

By 2050, Grimlock and the Dinobots lived in peace on Earth under the Cybertron Alliance, occupying their old stomping grounds on Dinobot Island. The originals enjoyed the company of newer members like Slash and Grimmaster. Carly Witwicky called her old friends from Neo Scramble City to warn them another time portal had been detected on Dinobot Island. Grimlock and the others found the Quintessons emerged from dimensional exile through the portal. The Quintesson forces were no match for the Dinobots, but then they used a Recreator to brink back the Predacons and Predaking. The Dinobots were scattered, and Grimmaster used his Prime Mode to hold back Predaking long enough for Grimlock to recover. The voice of Grimlock's old ally, the Oracle, counseled him to draw from the Angolmois Energy of the Earth and forge a new weapon, the Magma Blade. The sword unlocked a Wing Dragon mode in dino-form, allowing Grimlock to fight back. The weakened Grimmaster then tossed his Energon Matrix to his leader, and Grimlock combined his Angolmois tap with the Matrix to merge with the Dinobots and form Volcanicus. The new warrior made short work of Predaking, but the Dinobots received bad news from home. The human-invented robots called Selectors had revolted, and Carly was injured in the rioting. Grimlock and the Dinobots left Slash in charge of the island and flew off to Neo Scramble City. Volcanicus comic 1

Back with Earth Defense Command, Grimlock consoled Spike as Carly fell into a coma because of her injuries. The Autobots and Decepticons of the Cybertron Alliance had chosen to support the Selectors' bid for freedom, but the Dinobots remained loyal to Spike and Carly. Grimlock was ready for a fight, and led the Dinobots against the charging forces of Optimus and Megatron combined. Grimlock personally vanquished Soundwave, his Cassettes, and Shockwave before Optimus Prime enter the fray. Prime trying to talk Grimlock down only made the Dinobot angrier, and he swung his Magma Blade at Optimus's neck. When his blade stopped short, Optimus Prime told Grimlock the Dinobots all had a safety device installed that prevented them from taking a life. Rung, leader of the Selectors, balked at this idea when he heard it. The Selectors were fighting for their freedom, and were offended that their own allies were restricting the free will of their creations. Grimlock dug in as well, admitting the Dinobots were not smart, but that dumb 'bots deserved freedom too. Spike and Carly never treated them like they were dumb, so Dinobots fought for them. Before Optimus Prime could process his own failings, Sky Lynx arrived to face Grimlock after defeating the other Dinobots. Grimlock was in trouble, but the Technobots had decided to aid their "father" over the other Autobots. They bonded with Grimlock in a new combination called Volcaticon, and the Computron gestalt returned the mental power given to him by the super-intelligent Grimlock upon his creation. Volcaticon neutralized Sky Lynx with paralyzing electropulses, and prepared to calculate a solution to the problems facing the humans, Selectors, and Cybertronians. However, his rumination was interrupted by the Quintessons, who had returned on the side of the slave-holding humans. They unleashed their anti-Transformer gas and Terrorcons onto the battlefield, prompting Volcaticon to divide into Volcanicus and Computron again. Volcanicus comic 2

Grimlock was at a disadvantage, though, for his hyper-intelligence dampened Volcanicus's overall animal ferocity in battle. Abominus comic 1 Computron reabsorbed the excess intelligence from Grimlock and Volcanicus, but the Angolmois Energy of Earth became increasingly unstable as the Quintessons, Abominus, and soon a corrupted Megatron Omega fought over it. Eventually a wormhole opened in space and Optimus Prime (remembering this event from his own past) told Volcanicus and the Dinobots to travel through it and discover the secret of Angolmois Energy. Abominus comic 2 The wormhole was a summons from Primus, an incarnation of the Oracle from the Precursor World before the Big Bang. He had already summoned Optimus Prime from earlier in the timeline, the year 2011. God Neptune comic 2

Primus was in the middle of a desperate plan to shape the future when Grimlock and the Dinobots arrived. He had learned that his rival Primacron would use Angolmois Energy to destroy the Precursor World and shape the Known World that followed to suit his needs. Primus hoped to beat him to it, reassembling the power of the Silver Matrix from his Primus Vanguard to destroy the universe first and create a new one in his own image. Grimlock didn't understand most of this, but he understood "Get Primacron!" Unfortunately, Primacron had already completed his first planet-sized robot, the Neo Primus form of the Blue Planet. When the Terrorcons wandered through the wormhole as well, Grimlock put Hun-Gurrr's team to work by telling them the planet had Angolmois Energy at its core. Optimus Prime was increasingly unnerved by Primus's ambitions, but Primus's army the Golden Age kept him from interfering. Primus strode forth to finish assembling his Silver Matrix, and dispatched Grimlock and the Dinobots to fight Primacron again. As Volcanicus, the Dinobots distracted Neo Primus long enough for Primus to finish his work. Finale Prelude Primus was defeated by his own ambitions, and Primacron fell as well when Hun-Gurr supercharged the Magma Blade with Angolmois Energy, allowing Grimlock and Volcanicus to overcome Neo Primus. The Great Transformer War

DanielGrimlockGreatTransformerWar.jpg

Shortly after creating the Technobots, Grimlock joined Rodimus Prime, Spike, and others as they observed a battle between Computron and Abominus. Thanks to upgrades by Doctor Dalton, Computron was faring well in battle. However, during his internment by Galvatron, Dalton was forced to upgrade the Terrorcons, as well.

The Terrorcons took control of Computron with a "Cohesive Control Liquid", much to Grimlock's horror. Dalton explained that the only way to save Computron was for a human to burn off the control liquid. Daniel wanted to go, but Spike forbade him and went himself. As Daniel pouted, Grimlock poked fun at him for still being a puny kid. Eventually, the Technobots were saved and the Decepticons retreated. The Great Transformer War #2

Rodimus vs. Cyclonus

After blasting off of Quintessa aboard one of its ships, Grimlock and the other Dinobots huddled around Kup near the vessel's control panel. When the vessel experienced some rather violent turbulence out in space, Grimlock pointed out that they had probably been found by the Decepticons... something that was already quite clear to the rest of the crew. Wings Universe is based on the Generation 1 cartoon, but deviates from it in cosmetic ways and continuity points.

Together with Hot Rod and Kup, the Dinobots were on board a shuttle fleeing from Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps. When they found temporary safety inside a nebula, Grimlock insisted with fire that Kup tell the Dinobots storytime. Kup relented and told them about the time he was in the Elite Guard and fought on Beta-Nine. Eventually the Decepticons found them, but Grimlock and the other Dinobots were so angry about the interruption that they made short work of the attackers. Wings of Honor

In one particularly strange iteration of the Unicron War, Grimlock and the Dinobots were forced to flee Guardian City aboard a Command Center after Galvatron and his Renegade Decepticon alliance attacked. Kup entertained the Dinobots with a few tall tales as they headed to Cybertron, but Galvatron attacked their ship, stranding them on Antares III.

The four Dinobots tried to search for the missing Kup and Hot Rod, but not even Swoop could locate their whereabouts. Instead, they encountered the RoGuns. After a misunderstanding, they formed an alliance and barged into the court of the Master Renegade just in time to save Kup and Hot Rod from execution. After stealing the Master Renegade's ship and dubbing it "Grungy", the group headed to Quartex. Kup met up with Boulder, and together they alliance rescued Major Mo's group of Autobots and Guardians from Magmar's evil Rock Lords. The group held a party afterwards to commemorate their victory.

The Autobots, Guardians, Rock Lords, and RoGuns returned to Cybertron aboard the Grungy and a Rock Lord vessel, where they battled Unicron. Before they were finished their fight, Vector Prime managed to disentangle the two universes, setting history back on its proper course. Echoes and Fragments

Deviations

In a timeline where Optimus Prime killed Megatron during their Autobot City duel, Grimlock was on Optimus Prime's shuttle when the Autobots set off to reclaim Cybertron from the leaderless Decepticons. They were attacked en route by "Megascream": a reformatted Starscream now in the thrall of Unicron. They managed to escape after Megascream and his troops retreated, touching down on Quintessa to repair the damage. Grimlock was eager to bash Decepticons right in their turbo-chargers.

On the watery surface of the planet, the Autobots encountered a group of Sharkticons. Kup's universal greeting ended poorly, so Optimus dispatched the Dinobots to take care of the threat. Optimus, Kup, and the Dinobots stormed into a Quintesson courtroom, where they rescued Kranix and learned more about the threat of Unicron. When repairs on the ship had completed, they picked up Hot Rod from Junkion and returned to Cybertron, where Optimus announced his intent to confront Unicron head-on.

When Hot Rod saved the day by opening the Matrix, Grimlock was present to witness Optimus's declaration that the Cybertronian Wars had indeed ended. Deviations
