Dear Etxrge, - I corrected revolutionssolidum to rotationskropp. I am doubtful about your further correction to tröghetsmoment. By searching I found this:

In 1658 Pascal, after a long spell devoted to religion when he ignored mathematics, started to think about mathematical problems again as he lay awake at night unable to sleep for pain. He solved the problem of the area of any segment of the cycloid and the centre of gravity of any segment. He also solved the problems of the volume and surface area of the solid of revolution formed by rotating the cycloid about the x-axis.

I find no indication that Pascal examined any mechanical properties connected with the cycloid.

Avsnitt saknas om fysikern Pascal

Pascal var inte bara en tänkare, han gjorde också experimentella insatser. Engelska Pascal-texten har en avsnitt som i förkortad form borde sättas in här. Osynliggjord kvinna ? En eller flera systrar? Namnlös?

Blaise Pascal var född 1623. Sju år senare (1630) flyttar han till Paris tillsammans med en högtbildad namnlös syster. Han genomgår en religiös kris 1654 (31 år gammal). Då har han en begåvad syster Jacqueline, född 1625.

Är det samma syster bägge gångerna? I så fall ansågs hon högutbildad vid 5 års ålder. Ett underbarn!

Eller så måste den namnlösa som flyttade med till Paris vara född avsevärt tidigare än Blaise för att hinna ha blivit högutbildad före flytten. Varför är hon namnlös?

Enligt enwp hade han en yngre syster som sagt vid namn Jacqueline. Det står att han flyttade tillsammans med sin far och Jacqueline och sin äldre syster Gilberte till Paris när deras mor dog. Så jag tror det är Gilberte som är den namnlösa systern i texten. --Fredde 99 13 augusti 2009 kl. 11.46 (CEST)
