Wikidata

Since the articles you are generating is importing information from Wikidata, could you please update Wikidata with labels in "norsk bokmål" when they're missing (using Norwegian transcription rules, se Det kyrilliske alfabetet)? Missing labels can be identified by the appearance of Q-values in the infobox, see e.g. Ulvehunden (1946) and Bespokojnoje khozjajstvo.

Sure! Click on the Q-value in the infobox - that will take you to the relevant Wikidata item. To the left in the top menu, select language "norsk bokmål" (you can then change back to Russian or another language of your preference). In the first box, labels with description and aliases in different languages should now be visible, including Norwegian bokmål. Press edit (upper right corner), and fill in the Norwegian label (normally the article name, without any bracket specification), and press "publish". Repeat procedure for each Q-value in the infobox. If the film title is missing a Norwegian label, you should use the Norwegian name (if it exists, not your own translation), otherwise the original title (transcribed). You have to select Norsk bokmål in the language selector in the top menu, to the left of your user name. Then it will appear in the box below. I think it will be difficult for the user to fill in Norwegian labels for basert på (P144), since you have to do some research in Norwegian sources to find whether there exist Norwegian translations of those works. I've added quite a few, and it can be difficult even for Norwegian speaking users. BTW, Kategori:Artikler hvor elementer mangler oversatte etiketter via wd-norsk test have decreased from more than 7000 articles a couple of months ago to ca. 1500 now (in the same period, a few thousand articles have also been added to the category). - 4ing (diskusjon) 16. mai 2022 kl. 12:41 (CEST)

Original title

Some of the films are missing tittel (P1476) on Wikidata, and the infobox heading will then display two lines: the Norwegian label on the first line and the text "orig." on the second line. To fix this, tittel (P1476) has to be added on Wikidata. The language has also to be specified (in a popup window). Go to the Wikidata entry for the film (link available in the left menu). Below the already existing statements, there is a link "+ add statement". Please use {{STANDARDSORTERING:}} when you create an article with english titles starting with "The ...". For example should a title like "The Car" be labelled under the letter C and not T. Hello again. I have noticed that you don't link actors when you create a cast-list. Maybe you could start doing that. But watch out for person with the same name. It doesn't matter if the link is red (we have many red links on Norwegian wikipedia). I suggest that you take a peak on english wikipedia to decide who is notable enough for an internal link. I notice that use references in a way that doesn't tell anything about the sources or dates (like here). Maybe you can put in these links as references by using visual editor (perhaps the most common method to edit articles on Norwegian wikipedia today) and then choose Angi kilde + Automatisk. Time and genre in films

Maybe you can put in information about length (lengde) and genre in Wikidata for those silent movie-articles you are creating. The running time can often be found in the infobox for the English article or in many cases in IMDb (on top). You just write in varighet/duration (in the articles version in wikidata) and then the length in minutes (+ fill in the word minutes in the small box that pop up right under).

When it comes to genre/sjanger I suggest that you write stumfilm (silent film) first, and then the other genre(s). As an example: a drama-adventure film would be in this order: Silent film, drama film, adventure film. Keep up the good work! Ezzex (diskusjon) 22. mai 2023 kl. 15:42 (CEST)

I will also suggest that you bypass movie-articles on English wikipedia that are small stubs with none or few articles on other wikies, and rather prioritize film-articles from the 1920s that have more «meat» on them. It's plausible to assume that a film that have a small article with limited and missing info isn't as notable as a film which have large or medium-sized article. I will however not recommend that you ignore small articles of non-American films, especially since we have so few of them. It's a fact that American movies (both silent and talkies) are highly overrepresented here and in other wikipedias. We should have more European film and from countries outside USA. There are (per may 2023) 7500 articles about silent films on Norwegian wikipedia. About 5000 of them are about American ones (over 65 %).--Ezzex (diskusjon) 22. mai 2023 kl. 17:41 (CEST)
