About

The project Wiki Tours North Benin 2 aims to involve middle school students in northern Benin in the projects of the Wikimedia Foundation. Indeed, the activities on the projects of the wikimedia foundation are concentrated for the most part in the south of Benin, notably in Cotonou and Abomey-Calavi. The goal of this Wiki Tours is to sensitize the other localities of Benin more precisely those of the north of the country to the projects of the foundation. This project will essentially consist in traveling to three localities in Benin: Djougou, Malanville and Kandi and to make discover Wikipedia and its associated projects to secondary students in this part of the country.

Main objective

The main objective of this project is to increase the wikimedia community in Benin. Thus, this Wiki tours will be the most adequate way to convince other people, especially young students from colleges in areas where the foundation's projects are unknown. This Wiki Tours 2 will be the ideal moment to show them that they can be more than consumers but also contributors, they who use throughout the year Wikipedia in their school research.

Timeline

When: This project will take place from October 26, 2023 to December 25, 2023.

1. The College of General Education of Ouaké- three trainings and edit-a-thons. October 26 to 28, 2023
2. Le collège d'enseignement général de Banikoara- trois formations et edit-a-thons. November 12 to 15, 2023
3. Le collège d'enseignement général de Segbana- trois formations et edit-a-thons. December 22 to 25, 2023

Where: In the computer rooms of each college from 20 to 24 (with coffee and lunch break).
