  • Reason: I had an earlier account on English Wikipedia: Alalch Emis. This account was checkuser blocked because of block evasion (which I had done using my present account: Twsabin). However, I successfully appealed (w:Special:Diff/1126035066 – see the summary please; current revision: w:Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard#Twsabin unblocked), and have returned to good standing from the CU block. I want to make my history of contributions more transparent to everyone by associating more strongly my account (Twsabin) with the old and inaccessible account (Alalch Emis). Editors on projects where I've participated the most are more familiar with me as Alalch Emis; in particular, on the English Wikipedia. Still, there is an entirely separate and coinciding, but also important, reason for me to request a name change: When I created and chose the name for the "Twsabin" account, I chose "Sabin" as a gender-neutral name which I like, and combined it with random letters "t" and "w". Upon a cursory look it didn't seem to coincide with any other online identity, but I was wrong; I have recently found out that there is a person named Tw### Sabin-######## (feels better to partially obscure it) on the internet, with a handle "twsabin" on at least two sites; it seems to be the only person with the handle. I am not this person. I identify much more strongly with the username "Alalch Emis" than with "Twsabin". I would feel more comfortable, and it seems more appropriate, if my account is named some variation of "Alalch Emis". Alalch E. seems fine, but A. There are lots of accounts with the letter “;” as ending according to [1]. I tried to click the links of those usernames. Some of them do not have the problem but some of them do. I think that the best solution is to solve phab:T238285. 49.197.164.96 01:26, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
Yes, ";" can be an issue iff it's the last character of the full name and the second-to-last character isn't ";" or doesn't exist (as in, it can't be accessed via adding the name after "/wiki/") – the first link doesn't redirect to the second, the second one redirects to the Main Page. However, accessing a name via appending it to "w/index.php?title=" always works, no matter whether the last character is ";". Alfa-ketosav (talk) 15:29, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

I have lost access to my user account. This happened once again: tr:Özel:KalıcıBağ/21323305#Giriş_Yapabilme.
The previous time I was able to access it because I could remember my email: tr:Özel:KalıcıBağ/24696588#Gökçe_Yörük. But this time there is no email linked to my account due to my user mistake.

In anticipation of this matter, it is suggested that users can usurpation their own usernames. There are no more reliable ways that anonymous users can be confirmed.
For those who are worried: This is always a reversible action. Because I just want to usurpation my username, not the account.

Comment Comment Before proceeding with the usurp, you can try to contact Trust and Safety via mail or to open a phabricator task, see for example this request, in which the user regained access after writing to T&S. If you had an email or other data linked to your account in the past maybe T&S is able to access these data. This is not a solution. Usurpation is not an method to regain lost accounts. Furthermore we don't usurp accounts with valid edits unless the owner is same. Since we can't confirm it's you who was the real owner of previous account, we won't usurp it. I know this sound frustrating but what we the real owner of account left after removing email and scrambling passward and now someone else is trying to regain that account name? This problem occurred after I removed the old email without adding a new one and lost the auto login data in the browser with logged out. Yes, I'm also inclined to reject the request based on the current explanation. @AbeceselBot: You say that you have already gone through all these steps in 2020, but in 2020 there was no "AbeceselBot" user (registered in June 2021). Sorry, but I forgot to mention that the account has an indefinite block and a block log on a project (see log). We are generally reluctant to rename/vanish blocked account, also because the global rename policy states that one rename eligibility criteria is that "The user is not seeking the rename to conceal or obfuscate bad conduct".
