Requests for usurpation or deleting global accounts

dismas@en.wikipedia

I'd like to merge my account on en with that of the account on de. I never started an account on de but the edits credited to that user have the same edits as my account on en. I don't understand how or why but the dozen or so edits there have a mirror duplicate on en. Even the edit summaries are the same as mine. I'd also like to take over the account name on ru. From what I can gather (I don't speak/read russian) the account hasn't been used for any edits whatsoever. 129.42.208.178 02:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

All of these projects have local bureaucrats. On the left side of this page, you can see a series of links to various projects where you can request those accounts be usurped. Stewards may only perform usurpations on projects with no local bureaucrats. Thanks. Kylu 02:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. The pages leading up to this one were rather confusing to me and I thought I was going about this correctly. I'll do as you instructed. Thanks again, Dismas 08:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to change my account to a global one. But at en.wiki the is already a user with the same name. This user has one edit ans is inactive since autum 2007. Is ther any posibility to free "my" Username in en.wiki? -- Dergi 21:27, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello Dergi, probably, but please ask there, en.wiki has local crats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 22:51, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Trying to usurp username 'stian' on no-wikibooks for SUL. I have this username everywhere else. no-wikibooks seems to have only a single bureaucrat, who has been inactive since September 2007. Stian 03:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, that account has useful edits, I am sorry, but I would not rename him unless he agrees. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:50, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi geimfyglið, thanks for the information. I'm unable to find any rules on wikibooks-no governing usurpation, but most other wikis seem to ask that you leave a request and allow the user a certain period of time to respond. I have done so on the user's talk page and will wait for a response. Can you help me understand what the policy is if this user is inactive? Stian 14:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Hello Stian, I doubt no.wikibooks even has a local policy about that as being a very small community, but if they have, I can help You. If he does not respond I'd recommend to ask also in the community portal (I saw he unfortunately has not enabled email from other users), if they would agree to a rename. Currently for cases like this there is no real solution, being able to activate sul does not mean to be able to own that name everywhere, so if I were You, I personally would just ask him and then in the community, if they disagree I would rename my own account ( or not care about that one unattached one )... :S
Best regards, --geimfyglið :^╡ 16:12, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I had previously left a request publicly at this page, but that has so far not received a response either. I will wait longer.
I'm not inclined to change my username elsewhere, as I've gotten it unified everywhere else and besides, I like editing under my actual name. But maybe someone from the project will respond eventually; we're just coming out of a major holiday, so there could still be hope. Thanks for your help so far! Stian 16:49, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I would say that, no reaction seeming to be forthcoming, renaming the old account would be okay in my opinion - the user has been active on just a single day almost 2 years ago, I think chances are small that he still intends to use the account. - Andre Engels 07:48, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Not only has the user not been active lately; there doesn't seem to be much activity on no-wikibooks as a whole. Prior to my SUL request, the last activity on their community page (which appears to be where discussion about the project, requests for admin rights etc were debated) has not been edited since June 2008. I've not been able to find any policy on what happens with SUL requests that conflict with inactive users on a wiki where even the local bureaucrats are inactive, but I would appreciate being allowed to unify the last missing login and using 'Stian' everywhere. Stian 00:32, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Personally, if I were a crat on that project, I think I would not rename that account, because it has useful edits which are not minor, how long ago they are does imho not matter and how inactive the project is neither, but if they were useful, he created articles and worked in that project. But other views are welcome! Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 21:36, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Done, renamed account to «Stian (tidligere bruker)» )«earlier user»). I don't think that is problematic, because the name is kept unaltered, just with a small addition. Jon Harald Søby 00:57, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm now all unified -- appreciate it! :) Stian 00:58, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Mikey@en.wikipedia.org

The following discussion is closed.

I want to ensure I don't get deleted. there is a Mikey@nl.wikipedia.org which I don't care about, but I want to unify to other english wikis (commons, wiktionary, and wikisource). Someone is trying to reset my password fairly frequently... is there anything I can do to usurp all non-taken wiki's, but leave the nl account alone. I doubt I'll ever be fluent in dutch.) 68.94.31.199 04:40, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

No, You can't only by having them renamed to another name, the name Mikey [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits] has the most edits with the nl.wiki account, therefore this user could unify his accounts at special:mergeaccount, and could take over the accounts with 0 edits.
But honestly, with that few edits and if I were You I would not bother asking for renames, but I would simply chose a not yet taken name, using vvv-s-tool for checking if a name is still free.

Stevertigo@en.wikipedia.org

The following discussion is closed.

I've been Stevertigo on en since 2002, and have about 30k edits total. I've made a few edits over the years across a number of different wikis, although the old passwords are forgotten. The merge with the central login appeared to work with en.wikipedia and meta.wikimedia (please check). I also want to usurp the following accounts:

There are other wikis listed by the toolserver SUL utility and if you want to add those too that would be great.

Thanks. -SV 21:39, 13 January 2009 (UTC) (contact: en:User talk:Stevertigo)

Hello, all those wikis have local crats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, if the accounts are Yours and You forgot the password please try the password recovery at special:userlogin, note that we can't merge accounts, they could only be renamed to another name, but then You would lose their contributions.
Also note that some accounts that sulutil lists might not be attached because they are on closed wikis, then they show up as unmerged but can't be merged. These following accoutns are not merged according to centralAuth:
    * ar.wikipedia.org
    * commons.wikimedia.org

I'm a long-time editor who just created a new universal identity. There is a qoz@commons.wikimedia.org, but it was created more than a year ago, has zero edits, no user page, no talk page, etc. Can I usurp it? Thanks. 67.160.117.110 05:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, commons has local crats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, but since You say it has none, and if it has no uploads either that is looking good for You, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 06:10, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure where the interwikilinks you were pointing to are and searching for special:listusers/bureaucrat didn't work either. But I found it. For future reference, the relevant page on commons is http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Changing_username QozTemp 10:01, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to usurp a zero-edits account b:ru:User:Sergei. It was probably created by me a while ago, but I don't know the password and e-mail address was not specified. --Sergei 23:55, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Done, there are a lot of unmerged accounts for that name left :/ Some with imported edits from ru.wiki even (de.wiki for example has one imported edit) (just so You ever wonder about some edits), best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:35, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Indeed, there are other unmerged accounts. Can I ask for usurpation of them here, even though in some projects there are active bureaucrats? (I've made a list: eswiki, fiwiki, hewiki, idwiki, jawiki, mnwiki, ptwiki, trwiki, ukwiki, dewiki.)--Sergei 01:07, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I am sorry, for the wikis with active bureaucrats You have to ask there, I guess mn.wiki does not have local ones. Here is the unattached accountlist from central auth:
    * be-x-old.wikipedia.org
    * de.wikipedia.org
    * en.wikisource.org
    * es.wikipedia.org
    * fi.wikipedia.org

    * uk.wikipedia.org
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 01:11, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
OK. Can you merge mn.wiki then, please? I just want to lower my unmerged accounts number.--Sergei 16:24, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Fraise

I want to be renamed to Fraise with the following account

and I want to usurp the following account for SUL; I don't speak Swedish, so although I can see that some of their bureaucrats speak English, I can't seem to find any email addresses...

Tack/Thanks

@co.wikipedia: There is no global account for "Fraula", and Fraula has useful edits there.
@sv.wikipedia: There is no global account for "Fraise" either and sv.wiki has local bureocrats, please ask for renames there (interwikilinks to the requestpages can be found on this page, or type special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki), thanks. Please note that usurping might not be possible on some projects if the accounts have edits, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:18, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Clarification: I'm Fraise on en and fr, Fraula on co, and want the co to be renamed to Fraise so that I can create a global account with that username.
Thanks for the info on the interwikilinks, I'll check with the people on sv now.
--Fraise 81.80.239.162 07:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
I see, in this case, please confirm with co:User:Fraula the wish to be renamed to Fraise on Your usertalk and with en:User:Fraise that the co.wiki account Fraula is Yours and let us know when You have done so. Many thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:17, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
OK done: Fraula user talk, Fraise user talk. Cheers --Fraise 81.80.239.162 07:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, the rename on co.wiki is Done.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the rename. I've just updated the usurp request (see above), since I found another Fraise (0 edits, via the SUL tool) on eswikibooks, which doesn't have an interwikilink for usurpation requests. (For info, I've made usurp requests for dewiki (0 edits), metawiki (0 edits), rowiki (0 edits) and svwiki (165 edits) on their usurp pages. I'm Fraise on all the others shown by the SUL tool.) --Fraise 81.80.239.162 14:19, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
es.wikibooks has plenty of local bureaucrats, please ask them on the appropriate page or on their talk pages. --Thogo (talk) 14:25, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
OK thanks, will do (I'm assuming that means the eswiki bureaucrats are the same as for eswikibooks then). --Fraise 81.80.239.162 14:44, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Probably but not necessarily, You can find them by typing special:listusers/bureaucrat into the searchfield on the local wiki, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 16:03, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
(darnit, sorry for my multi-multilingual-wiki-induced temporary blindness, you said that in your original post :) -- thanks for the reminder, much appreciated)--Fraise 88.183.65.177 17:48, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Dct

I want to usurp the following account

Reason: I'm using "Dct" account in en.wiki and vi.wiki and looking to create a SUL under the name "Dct". I found this Dct account in es.wiki that has no edit nor user page and seems to have been inactive since 2006. I also tried to look for es.wiki renaming policy and it says they would reject every usurpation request [1]

I've also put a short notice in my user page (en): Dct Thanks a lot --Dct 09:22, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello, sorry but es.wiki has local bureocrats, please ask for renames there (at es:Wikipedia:Cambiar_el_nombre_de_usuario#Usurpando_una_cuenta_existente it only says that they have no policy and that it is probable that many bureocrats refuse such requests; so You should try), thanks. Please note that if they deny a rename locally there is nothing we can do, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 10:42, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks a lot for your help. 155.198.14.122 16:57, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I currently own the following four accounts as Pasquale:
enwiki Editcount: 4506
itwiki Editcount: 212
lawiki Editcount: 19
metawiki Editcount: 14

I discovered a collision with an identically-named user (real name: Pasquale Caprile) on eswiki (Editcount: 7, Registration date: 16:56, 6 November 2006) and I would like to usurp that account.

Additionally, the following ghost accounts seem to exist, but there is no way of telling whose they are, since they all have zero edits and no user page:
