Discussion: The solution we came up with!

Reason(s): Again and again the user has come back to remove the epithet "Great" from every single article on Persian Wikipedia that has mentioned "Alexander the Great." (کولاک, Mahsa87)

But why? Let me explain briefly: Alexander the Great conquered Persia and overthrew the w:Achaemenid Empire which is thought to be the most beloved empire among Persians (Iranians). Consequently, Iranians usually hated him and even Zoroastrians described him as the "accursed," but long after emerge of Islam, w:Dhul-Qarnayn, a figure which is mentioned in the holy Quran, was identified as Alexander the Great and then things changed. Alexander became a prophet in Persian literature and lots of romances were composed in honor of him. Some Iranian nationalists continue to call Alexander the Great as "Alexander the accursed." Since both names have been in extensive use in Persian literature, we cannot just force users not to use the epithet "accursed" and block them due to personal attacks. The solution we came up with is to leave each epithet as is. If the original contributor has chosen to use the epithet "Great", nobody is allowed to change it to "accursed" and vice versa.

Last year, I reported a case concerning disruptive behaviors of User:Mahsa87 which was confirmed by stewards and now the user is blocked for a whole year. I'm almost sure کولاک is a sock of Mahsa87. کولاک's account is created just after Mahsa87's block and they both share the same area of interests (ancient history). کولاک's manual of writing is exactly the same as Mahsa87's and both of them used to answer in every single detail which is boring and even tedious. He writes 10 kilobytes of words where he can be as concise and effective as of writing a simple yes or no (example). 4nn1l2 (talk) 17:17, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

I guess, you want to become a user with CU privileges? Please read the Checkuser policy on what is necessary for that. You do need to have a community voting on the wiki with a significant support (at least 25 supportive votes usually), and some other things. I should think that diq.wikipedia cannot fulfil those requirements, because the community is not yet large enough. :( --თოგო ^(D) 19:08, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Reason(s): The user name The-solipsist coincides with the gmail handle (the.solipsist at gmail.com ) of one of the employees of the organization applying for FDC grant and this could be potential lobbying. The verified handle of the employee concerned in English Wikipedia is User:Sol. The user The-solipsist has also edited from the IP 172.0.8.35 which belongs to New Haven, USA which is one of the exact locations the employee works from as evident from his Twitter profile here. It would be interesting to know if the English Wikipedia User:Sol is also associated with this IP. The style of writing and arguments articulated in Meta also match his arguments in Twitter. Not sure if you can do checkuser test for users across Wikimedia projects. Nevertheless, I will appreciate any clarification on this request. Thanks--Ravi (talk) 11:59, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

If there is a limit, then it wasn't editing fast enough to trigger it. There is a main IP being used which has now been autoblocked, though like QU said above they are using a couple of IPs. I'll email you the main IP to block if you wish. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:07, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
