Other bot accounts@bn.wikisource

Status:    Not done

I have been informed by @Martin Urbanec: on a Phabricator chat that our use of the 'bot user' flag on bnwikisource for actual bot accounts constitutes an abuse of that flag, so we would like to grant the actual bot flag to all such accounts that we had been treating this way (aside from Hrishikesbot which is being dealt with above). I am not sure that correcting an abuse such as this requires any sort of community consensus, but if this set of requests is put on hold indefinitely (or outright rejected) I would be willing to start such a community discussion. Mahir256 (talk) 23:11, 14 July 2018 (UTC)

Yes,I can confirm. Thank you very much for requesting this! --Martin Urbanec (talk) 23:15, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
Were there any discussions before flood flags were granted? Ruslik (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
@Mahir256, Bodhisattwa, and Jayantanth: pinging the requester and admins who assighed the flag. Ankry (talk) 06:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

@Ruslik0, Matiia, and Ankry: Apologies for the prolonged delay in response. @Jayantanth: had just given my bot the flag as "tempora[ril]y given" without discussion; I did not intend to make use of that account for bot edits on bnwikisource, instead mainly intending it for Wikidata bot edits, but at the time he gave the flag I had been using that account on bnwikisource for manual edits back when a log-in bug affected my main account. Jayantanth gave タチコマ robot the flag by virtue of being a 'long-time trusted bot' (apparently satisfying a request from 2008 from the bot's operator). @Bodhisattwa: just gave ListeriaBot the flag, and Jayantanth to Phe-bot, but I cannot readily find any discussions about those. Mahir256 (talk) 16:54, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

In this case a discussion for each bot is required before we can grant bot flag. Ruslik (talk) 19:37, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
Not done. Feel free to re-request the bot flag in the future, if there's consensus. Matiia (talk) 15:19, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

There is community consensus to add new namespaces (which was done itself). As zhwikiversity used fake pseudo namespaces (pages are just starting with School:, formally still in NS_MAIN) before the request was processed and they discussed about pages in this fake namespace, they have several pages called Talk:School:something. Those pages are not accessible from the web and not tied to the pages in School: namespace. They should be mass moved to School talk: namespace (School: is just one of the namespaces, see the Phab task for others). To not flood RecentChanges and to be able to suppress redirect, I hereby ask temporary bot flag. I think explicit discussion is not required, it is just a matter of technical implementation of approved task. Martin Urbanec (talk) 22:44, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

I disagree, a local discussion is needed. We can't grant some permission without consensus. Matiia (talk) 22:58, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Oh, come on. That's ridiculous. The editing community of that wiki can't possibly care about what technical procedure is used to fulfill their request, as long as the end state is as requested. - dcljr (talk) 02:35, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
@Martin Urbanec: How much time do you need to complete all moves? Ruslik (talk) 20:26, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
24 hours is fine. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 13:48, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
@Martin Urbanec: done for 2 days. Ruslik (talk) 20:31, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

While moving them with redirect suppression via API is a way to do it, a proper one is to run mw:Manual:namespaceDupes.php IIRC. --Base (talk) 20:52, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

Ah lol it is to move 3 pages left after the script? Why not ask a random gs to move them via APISandbox… --Base (talk) 20:59, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
@Base: namespaceDupes.php isn't everything - it was executed while deploying. PS: It's not 3 pages, it's 25 pages. Yeah, I can spend 2 hours explaining to random GS how to do it - but it is faster to do it myself. And it would be a 1000% faster if I were a sysadmin => powerful enough to do it without any privs-granting. PPS: If this were normal bot job, I would not ask for a bot flag, but I don't want to leave normally not deletable stuff after myself. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 22:40, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
