Global bot requests

Global bot status for MondalorBot

Bot has made over 43000 edits on the Wikimedia Projects and has got 26 local bot flags (ca, cs, da, de, en, eo, es, fi, fr, hu, id, it, ja, ko, nl, no, pl, pt, ro, ru (home wiki), sk, sv, tr, uk, vo and zh + request on ar). It works with interwiki links and the global bot flag will be really helpful. Thanks, best regards, Mondalor 13:47, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Plenty of edits and flags already; no blocks and the sample of edits I saw all looked good. Bot is mostly just for adding interwiki links but I did notice that some other edits are done, such as swapping _ with spaces and better use of the pipe trick. Example [1]. While I personally take no issue with those edits, I don't think they follow the letter of the Bot policy concerning global bots. Will the bot do those type of edits on wikis where the bot was not granted a local bot flag? Or (to other Stewards) is this OK for global bots? --Daniel Mayer (mav) 16:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
If Wikipedia does not allow the cosmetic changes, the bot will not make them (see, for example, contributions of my bot on ar, fi, ja and no). I know some global bots (for example, Xqbot), which make the same cosmetic changes as my bot. Best regards and thank you for kind words! Mondalor 16:37, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
  • This bot looks good, per Mav. We might consider updating policy to say that uncontroversial cosmetic changes are ok, but as soon as anyone complains on a given wiki the bot must stop on that wiki. Sj+ help translate 09:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I am agree with you. I am ready to stop the cosmetic changes, if Wikipedia from anyone will complain. Mondalor 15:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Bot status requests

Interwicket@knwiktionary

Hello. This bot is one of the best interwiki bots on Wiktionaries, and I noticed that this bot is editing without the bot flag on this Wiktionary. The bot should have made well over the test edit limit, and I would like to ask the stewards to grant this bot the bot flag. Thanks, Razorflame 19:13, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

You could better ask for the globalbotflag for this wiktionary. Carsrac 10:55, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't you simply ask the botop to handle it? wikt:en:User talk:Interwicket.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:27, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi Razorflame, either you or the operator should start a local discussion on kn.wikt. Sj+ help translate 15:59, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Done Here is the message that I left about implementing the global bot policy. I think we should wait for a response or two, yeah? Razorflame 17:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes. That's useful, and you might want to nudge a local editor to help translate the request (since their community portal is active).
Ok. I'll do that. Cheers, Razorflame 01:19, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Closing. --Erwin 08:28, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Xqbot@ckbwiki

I need local botflag for maintaining arabic letters as requested by local community. The new behavior is approved. Local botflag is needed because my global flag is restricted for interwiki and double redirects only. Thanks Xqt 20:04, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Done. Good luck :) Laaknor 16:16, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

question about "Crochet.david" (global contribs)

Status:    Done

(Don't know where/how else to bring this up)

Has Crochet.david been given permission to operate both "bot" (w/o botflag) and "regular user" via the same account globally and produce stuff like this and this? Seb az86556 22:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Anyone can run a bot on their normal account (hey, a bot account is a normal account, until it get's a flag), the botflag is only for not disrupting the recentchanges of the wiki with not-important information, and since he only does one edit per wiki, there shouldn't be any need for botflag. Botflag is given to suppress large amount of edits, not single edits on diffrent wikis. Laaknor 22:16, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
OK, thank you. Seb az86556 22:37, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

This project allows global bots. As you bot already has that status, there's no need for local bot status. --Erwin 09:00, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Done the automatic approval is no harm, as I have seen global bot edits flooding recent edits unintentionally.--Jusjih 03:04, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Removal of bot status

Darkicebot@io.wiktionary

My bot is finished making the edits that it needed to make to the Ido Wiktionary. I am now requesting it be removed because my original request was for temporary bot flag status. Sorry that it took me so long, but it had to go through over 189,000 pages at about 22-30 pages/minute, so that is why it took so long. Once again, sorry that it took me so long! Thanks again, Razorflame 23:44, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Done, even if, next time, it would be better here ;)--Nick1915 - all you want 00:36, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Yep. My mistake :) Feel free to move it to the archive there. Cheers, Razorflame 04:07, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
