The programme of the HLPF 2024 focused on the theme “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”.
The programme included the thematic reviews of Sustainable Development Goals 1 on no poverty, 2 on zero hunger, 13 on climate action, 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions, and 17 on partnerships for the Goals.
The forum addressed the special challenges faced by countries in special situations. It will explore the regional and local dimensions on effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions regarding the SDGs.
The forum supports implementation of the Political Declaration and other outcomes from the SDG Summit in September 2023.
The ministerial segment of the forum was featured by the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) to be conducted by Member States and the general debate on the theme.

Timing of consideration by ECOSOC at its high-level segment to consider the draft ministerial declaration (E/2024/L.20) – 18 July 2024 PM, ECOSOC Chamber
Further to the announcement circulated on 17 July regarding action on the draft ministerial declaration of the high-level segment (E/2024/L.20) at the closing meeting of the high-level segment, please note the following:
Bearing in mind time constraints and that the segment needs to conclude by 6 p.m., the action on the draft ministerial declaration will take place directly following the panel discussion on “Current trends and their impacts: Looking to the future and the realization of the SDGs”, which may be earlier than 5 p.m. Member States are encouraged to be in the Chamber for the whole afternoon meeting.
