Time per question in the real exam

Time per question in the real exam [#permalink] Time per question in the real exam   30 Oct 2017, 02:52
Hello,

I couldn't find an answer if the time per each question is shown at the real test or just the whole time I've spent since the beginning?
I'm asking because I try to solve each question in 2minutes. If I'm not able to do so, I will guess and go on.
Therefore it would be helpful to see at the test date the time for each question, not the whole...

the whole time is shown.(ie the remaining time is shown atvany instant) Looks like gmat tests our time management as well.

Hmm, that is not good. How do I know how much time I've spent on a single question?
The only way is to substract the times...that is not good if I just need to know how to time I've spent on the single questions.

Hi Dokami,

Have a time management strategy and practice that in CATs so that you can follow the same without any effort in real exam.

Also it would be great to if You could develop a sense of one/two minute.

The clock will show how much time you have remaining overall, not time per question. If you don't have a clear idea of how to solve the problem 30 seconds in, you will want to start applying other strategies such as plugging in numbers or eliminating answer choices that do not work out with the numbers given in the question.

When I do mock CATs I write down the time left for each question, before attempting. It helps to be organized on the page and know where you're at. For example here's what the most recent sheet looked like.

1 - 75 - rough work
2 - 74 - rough work
3 - 72:40 - rough work
4 - 71:20 - rough work
5 - 68 56 - rough work

You understand what times you're taking by looking at the pattern. Try out different strategies by different people here. One helpful post assked us to write down time left on the 4 corners. You have to manage yourself. You won't know the time you took for each, otherwise.
