Things have been changing over the years, but about three or four years ago, Fuqua had a massive waitlist. It was not uncommon for someone to get waitlisted after the early round and to be finally denied on August 1.

🥴 as a matter fact, most people self remove themselves from the waitlist because of the early application deadline already opened and due for the next year, while the waitlist was still going 😱

It’s Duke’s loss that you guys and gals were waitlisted. My personal opinions of Duke are not positive (I personally believe that they are one of the most overrated MBAs in the country), so know that there are better options in this author’s opinion

Would love to know more about what shaped your opinions?

Atleast for Indians, EA vs R1 might have come into picture.
They admitted 28-29 indians in EA, so in reality there were just 4-5 slots in R1 for Indians. Some waitlist movement might happen as some of these people will move to other schools after R1 results

I have to add that fucose policy and waitlist practices seem to have changed during the pandemic. However, if you had to find a school that has mastered and used waitlist as a tool to the maximum, it would be Fuqua.

A school that has mastered applications, and volume would be Kellogg though sometimes it seems to be a tad too aggressive when they went back and re-evaluated all of the dinged candidates in 2020 but I digress.

VikasVala, I should have clarified this in my previous comment. While I FIRMLY believe Duke will give you a decent education and get you a high-paying job post-graduation, I just don’t know or understand what differentiates them. To me, they are just a carbon-copy of every other T-15, but with a healthy dose of elitism mixed in. Just my opinion, so take it for what it is!

bb, where are our B. school rankings? I feel like we were kind of critical of Fuqua and Ross in those

There are just not too many schools that a person might reject Fuqua for, I believe. Although sure, there’d be ones with some favourable scenarios. All in all, there are things that one could choose Fuqua for and won’t really need to doubt the choice once convinced to apply.

This seems to contrast what nightblade354 feels though 😛
Guess we need to research more

This is more than acceptable hahahaa. As I stated, it is merely my opinion. I am not infallible and welcome further scrutiny of my position

Woah, didn’t know about re-evaluation of dings by Kellogg. So it’s not 100% closed even after a ding. There might just be a 0.001% chance still 😂

Let me also reiterate that this view was for the T-15 exclusively. Duke is a tremendous program in any other measure. So yes, all-in-all, a good MBA program. Sorry if I caused anyone to worry or be upset

As a Fuqua student, let me clarify something about waitlists. It’s a numbers game, sure. But if you don’t show active interest in the school after that, then you are not increasing your probability of getting in anyway. This may hold true for other schools too but I can only speak for Fuqua. Work with your admission consultants and evaluate your gaps. You have another 6 months to improve your application.

Waitlisted.
Bangladeshi Candidate with 770 Gmat. 🥺

I am completely heartbroken. Coz from BANGLADESH we need atleast six months for the Visa to be processed.
