Hi, posting here for the first time.

Was wondering if its possible to impress top B-school (H/S/W) admissions as a corporate lawyer (Will be 3 years at a top quality M&A/capital markets law firm) from India with a law degree from the best Indian law school? Have completed CFA, experience with law review and leadership roles in law school. GPA is 5.4/7 (Close to 78% for an arts degree). I haven't taken the GMAT yet, but assuming I get a 720+ score. I'm happy with the exposure in my current role and looking to transition to IB/consulting post-MBA. Thanks!

Hi 1point5billioninches,

Of course, you will be able to impress the top B-schools with your differentiated profile :) However, your essays will need to focus on your leadership abilities, varied skill-set, and, most importantly, why you feel the need for an MBA! :)

Considering you represent the Indian applicant pool, we strongly recommend that you aim for a score upwards or around a 740, especially since you are looking at the M7 :)

Hope this helps!

All the best!

1point5billioninches,
1) Understand that the schools look more at the process (think career growth process) than what stream you took. Demonstrating a fast growth in any field, howsoever diverse, is way better than being in the best role, but no growth/ vision/ ambitions.
2) Within the above, you need to establish a clear goal & WHY & HOW an MBA will help you reach there faster.
3) Within the above, you should be able to demonstrate any transition you are looking at, is well understood, and an interest in it well demonstrated through real life examples
4) Your overall impact as well as a well-rounded personality will win you the day.
5) For H/S/W, the presence of a subtly expressed dream to change the world, will endear you much more.

As for your GMAT scores, and other points you already have good advice.
Hope this helps.

It is definitely possible for lawyers in general but I would need to know more about you in order to be able to tell for sure if it is possible for you in particular. There is just too much detail missing for me to be able to do that. Therefore, I would suggest you use our admissions chances calculator in order to get a better picture of your chances. You’ll find it here:
https://aringo.com/mba-admission-chances-calculator/

Alternatively, you are also welcome to contact us in order to get a profile evaluation by an ARINGO team member here:
https://aringo.com/mba-process-registration/
But again, if you do that, we need more detail in order to be able to give you a well thought out evaluation, so please add as much detail as you can when you do that.
