- On May 1, 2024, 120 people left Senegal by the Atlantic route. On May 05, 2024, AlarmPhone received an alert from this group that was probably heading to the Canary Islands.
- On April 29, 2024, 50 migrants disappeared on the Atlantic route to the Canary Islands. About 100 km from El Hierro, their boat capsized. 9 people from sub-Saharan Africa were rescued by helicopter according to the Washington Post.
- The third report on “Migrant Women, Victims of Gender-Based Violence”, published in April 2024 by the Red de Mujeres Latinoamericanas y del Caribe, highlights the structural violence that persists against immigrant women in Spain. Between 2003 and 2021, they were over-represented in SGBV statistics. The study denounces notably the lack of protection for this category of the population overexposed to femicide.
