nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com

I'd like to ask you not to link to this website: we at the National Register of Historic Places wikiproject have discovered that this is an error-filled mirror of the actual NRHP database, and although it presents itself as the official database, it's actually privately-run. Don't think that I'm complaining or unhappy with you; this is strictly a "thought you'd like to know" message and a kind request. Nyttend (talk) 13:01, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bishop McNabb

You might be interested in doing an article about Bishop John McNabb.[1] There was an article about Bishop McNabb in the Detroit Archdiocese newspaper in 2005. It is online. Catholic Hierarchy.org refered to him as Juan Coway McNabb. He is an American Roman Catholic bishop who served as a missionary bishop in Peru. His successor is American also.I thought you might be intersted in that one-Thanks-RFD (talk) 20:09, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Henry Patrick Rohlman.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Bishop Bonaventure Broderick

Here is another Roman Catholic bishop-Bonaventure Broderick you might be interested in-[2] This bishop had a falling out with the Vatican and Pope Pius X and was more or less was exiled until Cardinal Spellman recused him. You're welcome! Ya, I'll definitely get some photos for your articles. CTJF83 chat 21:39, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I took a bunch of pics...might have to retake some, due to sun issues. Anyway I can't find Clarissa C. Cook Library/Blue Ribbon News Building. Note the map, the plasma place on the left is 520 Brady, and the parking lot would probably be 528, the brown building behind the parking lot is 100 something 6th street, and the correctional building to the right is 600 something Brady. I did the best I could for Clarissa Cook Home for the Friendless, there was a fence and 'no trespassing' signs all over the fence, and with trees all over, like I said, I did the best I could. CTJF83 chat 21:52, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I thought the Clarissa Cook Home for the Friendless photo was good. I actually created the Clarissa C. Cook Library/Blue Ribbon News Building by mistake. I meant to do the home in the West End and didn't check, for whatever reason, before I saved the article. I realized then I had set up the wrong article and corrected the mistake. The old library was on the current parking lot site for the plasma lab. Historically, it adds to the story of Davenport so I guess I'm okay with it, but I wish I had been more careful. I've found a bit more on the Blue Ribbon News, which I'll add at some time. Farragutful (talk) 18:51, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It depends. What would I have to do to update the election results? I don't have much time today. Farragutful (talk) 21:26, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I guess just go to the reps pages, and update the results something like I did 2 years ago....I mean there is 125 house/senate winners to update, not to mention if all the losers have articles too...it's in no way a fun job....not even sure it is really necessary...but, I mean if you get a few mins here and there, that'd be great, if you want to chip in. I imagine User:Philosopher will get to it, he usually does politician articles. I'm gonna take care of the Governor, Senator, and 5 US house seats with votes and maps shortly...up to you if you want to do it...it is very tedious. CTJF83 chat 21:38, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I do appreciate it. I'm coming to the end of the Scott County NRHP properties. I'm tackling some of the houses that I have information on, but given the location of some of them I don't know what condition they're in. They may not make the prettiest of pictures! There are others I'm not sure exist anymore so I thought I would take some time while in the QCs next month to check them out. I know I wrote a couple articles where the building doesn't exist, but I thought the history was compelling. Others, like those on the 100 block of W. River Dr. (skybridge/parking structure location) I didn't find that interesting. I also have nothing on the Oak Lane Historic District, other than knowing where it's located and that it's mentioned in the MRA document. Farragutful (talk) 18:31, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
End?! I was hoping for all of the properties to have articles! Do you not want to do all of them, or you just don't have info on them? I can check conditions of buildings if you want. CTJF83 chat 23:02, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, I will do all the articles I have information on. Some will be rather sparse, and I doubt I have info on all. I will do all the articles I can and then let you know when I'm done. I also just located a postcard with a picture of the Cook Library. It appears the building housed Palmer College at one time. I'm trying to get confirmation on that.Farragutful (talk) 23:07, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you get out this weekend to takes some more photos could you check and see if the Jacob Goering House (721 Harrison) is still standing? I think CHS might have claimed it when they expanded several years ago. Also, could you take a picture of Argle Flats (Brady St. Hill)? I have some info on it, but I need to see it before I finish. If you don't get around to these it's certainly is no big deal. Thanks. Farragutful (talk) 19:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all the Davenport articles!

Thanks for all the Davenport NRHP articles! I'd love to see some more photos and articles. I've been trying to assign classes to the articles, as a part of trying to clear out the backlog on NRHP articles. You'll probably think I'm being a bit harsh in assigning "Stub" to most of them. I think most are pretty close to Start or better, but need a bit more content. I suppose you've already got Davenport MPS 64000149. It's a shame that Philippe Oszuscik's Davenport books and PhD thesis aren't readily available on Google Books. I don't know where else to point you, but just a small bit of info on these would make a big difference. Perhaps the classes aren't that important, but give me a shout if I can help in any way, or if you feel that I'm mistaken on this. Again, thanks for all the articles. Smallbones (talk) 03:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Maybe WPA Iowa Guide pp.213-226, there are 30-40 separate sites described, but hopelessly out of date. Smallbones (talk) 04:14, 28 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
A history of the architecture and urbanization of nineteenth century Davenport, Iowa by Philippe Oszuscik is avilable for in house at the Figge Art Museum and Nineteenth century architectural development in the Upper Mississippi Valley is available at some of the local libraries. If you want I can look at the Figge book, or check out the other one from the library, or next time your in the area, you could look at it, inside the Figge. CTJF83 chat 23:53, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I assume the Oszuscik book is in the Figge Library? I suppose that's kind of a dumb question, but I've learned not to assume anything. I was a member there until I moved away a year ago, but I was only in the library once. I doubt I'll have much time to get there this time, or any library for that matter. I really should pay attention to a few people, it is the holidays afterall! I will start to work on making the other NRHP properties stubs. Farragutful (talk) 00:07, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
The first book is just in the Figge, the 2nd one is in a few different libraries. Ya, you should focus on spending time with people when you come back, I'll look at the book. CTJF83 chat 17:02, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm thinking WP:FL for the NRHP Scott County article. Discussed it with User:Doncram here. We should def try to go for FL. CTJF83 chat 22:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have to say that I'd love to see this as an FL, but it would take a lot of work, e.g. get rid of 3/4ths of the red-links, get a lot more photos, fill in most of the summary column. Frankly, I have to say that I'm jealous of all the sites left to photograph. Unfortunately, I won't be getting out there anytime soon, but there are 100s of sites to photograph, that might be completed in a few days of concentrated work. You do realized, don't you, that Davenport has almost as many NRHP sites as Chicago? A bit of a fluke perhaps, but still...
All the best Smallbones (talk) 22:50, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ya, I'm shocked at how many NRHP sites there are in Davenport. Photos are no problem, I can take care of those. Farragutful has done an amazing job starting nearly all the articles, ie getting rid of red links. So basically I think we just need to expand the lead, and put in a short summary for all the properties. CTJF83 chat 22:54, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Creating NRHP articles

Hi, Farragutful. I've noticed (thanks to the bot output for new NRHP articles) that you have been creating a lot of NRHP-related articles recently. I also see from the archives of that bot's output that you have created many NRHP articles over time. I've recently begun going through this entire archive and tagging articles with the {{WikiProject National Register of Historic Places}} banner and assessing their quality/importance based on the NRHP assessment guidelines. While you needn't worry about articles you have already created, it would be very helpful if in the future when you create articles if you would also create the associated talk page and add the template linked above to it. You may also wish to include a state project banner as well (i.e. {{WikiProject Iowa}} for Talk:Round Barn, Norway Township). These project banners are the only way projects like WP:NRHP can keep up with just how many articles people associated with the project have created, and they help to assess the overall quality/coverage of sites on the NRHP as well. I'm sure that even if you don't feel like adding these project banners that someone will eventually come behind you and add them as I have been doing, but it would be extremely helpful if you would tag new articles yourself. If you'd like more information, simply reply here or at my talk page, or you can also look at the NRHP style guide for information about talk pages. Thanks for helping out!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 20:18, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
