This article needs to figure out how to differentiate between the instrumental, emotional style of music it's referring to and the worship music that has been used in churches for centuries. Also, the worship music it's talking about goes back to at least the 70s if not the 60s. Think of the "Jesus People" movment, the various Bill Gaither music groups, etc.

Something should also be said about the worship music style's relationship with the charismatic and pentecostal movements, its theological underpinnings, etc. And how can there be no mention of overhead projectors? ;-) Wesley 08:15, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have just completely revamped the worship music entry. I approached it from a more historical and etymological viewpoint, in terms of both the phrase "worship music" (and its predecessors "praise music", and "praise and worship") and the stylistic and implementational considerations of the genre throughout the church. This page will precisely not deal with the general term "worship", since its specifically related to worship as it is appears in the form of music (I.E. "worship music"). I fully believe that there should be a page just for Contemporary Worship. That the content of the Contemporary Christian Worship Movement be put into that page. The reason for this is that for those researching Contemporary Worship will find that the origins began centuries before and the Contemporary Worship had nothing to do with Christianity. Hillsongs popularized Worship?[edit]

I don't buy it. It started with Praise and Worship music labels like Maranatha! Music in the 70s, Hosanna! Integrity in the 80s. Hillsongs is only the most recent label and not even the best. Could we get some balance on this point please? --Walter Görlitz 23:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vinyard and Calvary Chapel did not have similar themes[edit]

Calvary Chapel's worship music was focused on scripture in song and Vineyard focused on experiencing God. Very different themes. --Walter Görlitz 06:30, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article is very biased in terms of POV towards this music having value or a place in worship.

Merging of related articles[edit]

I feel that it would be better if we could merge Worship leader, Worship music, Worship band and Worship presentation program into Christian Worship. If not, I suggest that we create an article on Modern Christian worship and merge the four articles into that one. Would've done it myself, but am looking for a general consensus. Traditional worship music[edit]
