I suggest getting refrences from Japanese sources. Snipertron12 Talk 17:41, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Translating content from other language Wikipedias[edit]

@Snipertron12: If you're going be translating content from other language Wikipedia's into English and then add it to the article (like you seem to be doing here), please make sure to provide proper attribution as explained in WP:TFOLWP and HELP:HOWTRANS. There are a couple way of doing this, but doing so in your edit summary and also using the template {{Translated page}} tends to work best in my opinion. You also should try to avoid direct WP:MACHINETRANSLATIONs and also if possible. You're responsible for anything you add to the article; so, if you're not competent enough in the source language to verify or check the translation or the sources cited, you might be better off asking someone who is.

Another concern when it comes to translating content is that each of the other language Wikipedias has its own policies, guidelines and communities. Many of these projects have patterned themselves after English Wikipedia, but they also do some things differently. Since English Wikipedia has the most articles and largest community out of all of the Wikipedias, its policies and guidelines tend to be more frequently and rigorously applied. In some cases, the content, sources cited and formatting you find in non-English Wikipedia articles isn't acceptable for English Wikipedia. So, please keep that in mind moving forward. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:58, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ordinals in dates and line-breaks[edit]

@Snipertron12: Please don't use ordinal numbers for common dates as explained in WP:BADDATE. The day-month-year format used of British English (or month-day-year format of American English) will be appropriate in pretty much all cases. Non-English Wikipedias might use a different format that works best for them, but doesn't work as well for English Wikipedia.

In addition, you don't need to use the syntax <br> to create new lines or new paragraphs as explained in H:LINEBREAK. A double space at the end of the line/paragraph tends to work much better as explained in WP:NEWLINE. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:09, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notability and Verifiability templates.[edit]

I have a comment on the Notability and Verifiability templates.

Kasane Teto has been the subject of academic research. Professor Koichi Katano of Meisei University's paper, "ユーザー・コミュニティ創発のシミュラークル Simulacre Generated from User-community," studies Kasane Teto. The paper states that this research was supported by KAKENHI. KAKENHI is a research fund disbursed by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for original and pioneering research, and is subject to peer review. The fact that Koichi Katano has received KAKENHI for his research in this area is confirmed here. This paper discusses the background of the formation of the character Kasane Teto, comparing it to the formation of Hatsune Miku. In the paper, Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto are discussed with equal weight. I think it is rare that the formation process of a fictional character is discussed in an academic paper.

Songs sung by Kasane Teto simply have many views. The song "人マニア" has been played 30 million times, while "メズマライザー" has been played 40 million times. Billboard japan, a sister company of the internationally known music magazine Billboard, reports that "メズマライザー" has been at the top of the list for five consecutive times and is attracting attention overseas as well.

The most well-known software in this field is Hatsune Miku. The Japanese version of Wikipedia gives Hatsune Miku 17,893 monthly page views, compared to 15,132 for Kasane Teto. I think Kasane Teto has a similar level of notability to Hatsune Miku. In the English version, Kasane Teto has 836 compared to Hatsune Miku's 77,889, which might indicate that the article needs to be improved.

Regarding the Verifiability of sources, it is verifiable that Kasane Teto appeared at Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, at the Sapporo Snow Festival, and at Synthersizer V, all of which can be verifialable and each of which can be found on the official website and elsewhere.1, 2, and 3."From what little I have seen, it is unclear whether Anime News Network and Siliconera meet Wikipedia's criteria for sources, so I would think it would be a good idea to replace them with higher quality sources if necessary. Siliconera seems to belong to Gamurs, so I think it could meets the criteria, but other sources could be used. 狄の用務員 (talk) 12:59, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
