Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/New York

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to New York. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|New York|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to New York. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

Disputed draftification. Fails WP:BIO. It is difficult with things so long ago. Even so, I am struggling to see what makes this industrious man notable in a Wikipedia sense. He appears to have had a decent, unexceptional life, like so many of his peers. WP:ROTM 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 13:28, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NCORP. I cannot find any independent sources that covers the fund specifically and fulfils WP:SIRS. There are some sources about the founder or about it launching but not really anything in-depth. Imcdc Contact 10:57, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NCORP. Current sources do not meet WP:SIRS. Can't seem to find anything independent that really covers the fund in-depth right now. Imcdc Contact 11:01, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the references are either his own website or YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc., so I have serious doubts about notability. He did get some coverage due to his opposition to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, but this looks pretty much like WP:INHERIT. HPfan4 (talk) 16:19, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NCORP. Cannot find any independent sources that provide WP:SIGCOV on it. Imcdc Contact 03:15, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable replica structure written in non-encyclopedic promotional tone. Fails the test of multiple secondary, independent, reliable sources. (The Bob Liepa article is the same article published in three different places, the Dempsey article does not mention this windmill at all, and the KDHamptons article is ineligible as tabloid coverage.) Non notable promotional article. It doesn't seem to meet WP:GNG. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 14:18, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewed during NPP. All 3 sources are from the event's official website, and I found no sources online that establish notability. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 07:17, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Keep. I agree that there are no good sources, and that its near impossible to find a reliable source talking about the Nike Indoor Nationals. Turns out there are some good sources talking about it. A lot of @Habst's sources are about the Nike Outdoor nationals, but they still provided a good number of articles about the Indoor Nationals. The sources aren't really fully about the event specifically, but I believe they're still fine articles to use. Coulomb1 (talk) 14:20, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, because the event meets WP:GNG as an important prep athletics championship. Responding to the concerns by @CanonNi and @Coulomb1, there's plenty of independent coverage from The Washington Post, New York Times, The Post-Standard, MileSplit, The Journal News, Bozeman Daily Chronicle The Cullman Times, and many more. --Habst (talk) 16:30, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All of my links were for the indoor nationals – for the outdoor nationals, there's even more coverage from LetsRun.com, Track & Field News, The Santa-Cruz Sentinel, Eugene Register-Guard, MileSplit, etc. --Habst (talk) 16:41, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't know how this slipped past me. I have no problem with keeping this article then. Coulomb1 (talk) 14:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Still unclear if there's enough independent coverage for WP:NCORP.

Previous AfD was speedied per the author's request. Also speedied for copyvio Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Too Lost, also deleted under G12 KH-1 (talk) 02:23, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
