Its not a separate unit. It was before it joined with the brigade. They use the term battalion, but its strength is unknown. It also makes it strange to have a battalion within a battalion. Most likely they have more freedom, but are administratively attached to 253rd. Your addition to the article should be worded better a little to avoid confusion.
