Please do not move articles solely because of "official transliteration", there is something called WP:COMMONNAME. For example Georgiy Gongadze is the common name, not Heorhii Gongadze. In such cases WP:RM is probably the best option anyway. And please do not use spellings that do not correspond to the article titles. There is no good reason to use "Lukašenka" instead of "Lukashenko" when the article is Alexander Lukashenko. Mellk (talk) 18:41, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

I think you have got it something wrong about WP:COMMONNAME, and should read it again; it stipulates no reason to represent an incorrectly written name, bu, for example, in some cases another name that is just an abbreviation of his actual name; different variantions are commonly still included in the articles. The fact is that many in Western media write names incorrectly based on pronunciation or use the names which are not the actual official versions of that person's name in his language or in some cases here on Wikipedia spread unkowningly Russian imperialism with Russian transliterations due to the still lingering impact of that imperialism on Western sources. Do we write "Kiev" or "Kyiv", because there should be a pretty strong case for the former in that case. See here for a programme for official transliterations/criptions for the Slavic languages. Search Heorhii Gongadze in Google Search and almost all Ukrainian English sources nowadays use that version which is the correct one based on the official Ukrainian Latin alphabet. Additionally, OSCE, one of world's most authoritative organisations, use "Heorhii" as well as Ukrainian government themselves. The same way Lukašenka is official in the Belarus Latin script, although Belarus being still de facto occupied by Russians isn't helping the case currently, but will surely be changed in the case of ceasation, looking at current developments, as was "Kiev" changed to "Kyiv" alongside other Ukrainian names back in the day. For that reason nobody has yet changed Lukashenka's name, but nobody bans to use that name inside the body of the article, be it sporadically, as per WP:COMMONNAME examples. Hope this helps. It states WP generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources). "Imperialism" is irrelevant. I get 685 results on Google News for "Georgiy Gongadze" compared to 1 result for "Heorhii Gongadze" and 131 results for "Heorhiy Gongadze", for example. So this suggests the common name was the old title. This is why some article titles for certain figures are like this. Wladimir Klitschko is the common name, not Volodymyr Klychko or Vladimir Klichko. This should be discussed first anyway, if not a WP:RM. So I am going to move it back to the old title. If you think it should be moved back to Heorhii Gongadze, start a RM and give policy-based reasons (because icorrectly written name because of imperialism is not going to convince other editors). In a sidenote, Volodymyr Klychko is still used in his article. "Wladimir Klitschko" is just deemed his "boxing name" Saksapoiss (talk) 04:31, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
