Elizabeth Lecky (15 April 1842 – 23 May 1912 November; née Catharina Elisabeth Boldewina barones van Dedem) was a Dutch-Irish writer, historian and suffragist.
Biography
Lecky was a member of the Dutch aristocratic van Dedem family, who were prominent in the industrial development of the Netherlands. Relatives/accomplishments: Lady in Waiting: Memoir of her ancestor:
She married William Edward Hartpole Lecky in , an Irish historian, essayist, and political theorist, who was also provost of Trinity College Dublin. Following his death, Lecky published
Her husband's mother, Isabella Wilmot, was the niece of Martha and Katherine Wilmot.[1] Following his death she donated her collection of manuscripts to the Royal Irish Academy Library, which now form the basis for the Dashkova-Wilmot Collection.[2]
Lecky campaigned for human rights. She joined prominent suffragists in petitioning for the extension of Parliamentary suffrage alongside Millicent Garrett Fawcett and Elizabeth Garrett Anderson in 1897.[3]
