About the new transliteration script

I dont know Tibetan script. Pལེཨས However, as this script is very similar to devnagari, I am trying to develop an inkey for it. Please help me correct and modify the script. The current inkeys are:

  • Lead consonnants (some of them composed using Latin digrams):

Comment on the transliteration script

Hi Eukesh

Dzongkha words often contain vertically stacked ligatures. In Unicode text these are formed by using a set of explicitly combining consonants (U+0F90 - U+0FB8) attached to the base consonants (U+0F40- U+0FB8). The encoding model used in Unicode for the script used to write Dzongkha and Tibetan is therefore quite different than that used for other Indic scripts such as Devanagari.

To be useful, and get correct output, an Input method need to use a romanization which preserves the Dzongkha spelling such as Wylie Transliteration or EWTS. Please study these if you are trying to make an Input method for Dzongkha. As you have currently implemented the inkey it is useless for forming conjuncts and it does not insert the ་ character which occurs between every word in Dzongkha.

There is a Javascript Wylie input method at http://www.colourcountry.net/tibetan/ ~ perhaps this could be adapted for Dzongkha (and Tibetan) input on Wikimedia projects?

Once more may I ask you to kindly please remove your Tranlit script from Dzongkha Wikipedia. It interferes with the standard Dzongkha keyboard, makes editing Dzongkha articles very difficult and so discourages participation on Dzongkha Wikipedia. In other words it is harmful to Dzongkha Wikipedia. This may be one of the reasons why no one is participating here.

I know your intention was to be helpful - but in this particular case it isn't. As I think I informed you some time ago, Dzongkha transliteration is *very* different than that used for Indic languages. For instance following normal translitteration (not transcription) the word Dzongkha (རྫོང་ཁ) is translitterated as rdzong kha but, when we type this, your translit script produces "རཛོངཁཨ" instead of "རྫོང་ཁ་". Dzongkha has many unpronounced prefixes and suffixes and requires a tshek character (U+0F0B) between each syllable things which your system doesn't handle. I know your Tranlit script has a check box to turn it off ~ but it is very frustrating to have to do this with each and every edit. Please remove this script ASAP because as far as Dzongkha is concerned it is entirely useless.

Tibetan script

Hi, what is śivo rakṣatu gīrvāṇabhāṣārasāsvādatatparān in the Tibetan/Dzongha script? The transliteration program comes up with ཨིོ་ར་ཨུ་ག་རྸ་ཨབྰ་རས་སྸ་དར་ན་. Is this true? Thanks. --RaviC ༡༩:༤༣, ༡༧ སྤྱི་ཟླ་དགུ་པ། ༢༠༠༨ (UTC)[reply]

No this is incorrect - Dzongkha & Tibetan transliteration in roman script works completely differently to transliteration for Indic languages - so the program will not work for converting Sanskrit transliteration to Tibetan script. The transliteration of śivo rakṣatu gīrvāṇabhāṣārasāsvādatatparān in Tibetan script would be something like: ཤི་ཝོ་ རཀྵ་ཏུ་ གཱིརྭཎཱ་བྷཱཥཱ་རསཱ་སྭཱ་ད་ཏ་པ་རཱན ~ (Though that is only an approximation). connectivity project

Hallo, my name is Anastasiya Lvova, I'm "duty" in Connectivity project. The essence of the "Connectivity" project is to study and enhance the coherence of Wikipedia, or, in other words, to improve hypertext navigation between articles. The project deals with deadends, isolated articles, non-categorized articles, transitivity of the category tree, etc.

We want to work with your language version, but we need configured MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage for it (with direct links to template namespace pages, for example, ru:MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage/de:MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage/fr:MediaWiki:Disambiguationspage). Is it possible to set it up for our usage?

Front Page

I think we should fix the front page to look like what other wikipedias look like with the featured articles, pictures and DYKs. Also someone should tell Google to add Dzongkha to google translate. Sadly there are no active users who understand Dzongkha here now and no native speakers at all, so I don't think that changing the front page would be of any use. Furthermore, I am strongly againts the usage of google translator here. Thanks if you can correct the orthography, if my guess was wrong (notably the ts’ég, or non-breaking ts’ég, or ts’égché signs, and the questionable letter "la" in the first line translitterating/adapting the term Wikipedia).
