[edit]| Description | The Sacramento District's Jamie Robb (left) and Coralie Wilhite measure samples of vegetative debris at Floyd Bennett Field in Queens, NY, Nov. 24, 2012. Trees and shrubs destroyed by Sandy are ground up for reuse or disposal. The wood chips are often made available as mulch for landscaping, but sometimes must be discarded if there's a risk that they're infested with an invasive species. The Asian longhorn beetle is a threat in this part of the country. Robb and Wilhite are taking samples to make sure the chips are generally being ground down to less than an inch.
