English Transcript[edit]

  • Achal: Hello, my name is Achal Prabhala. I am doing this interview on behalf of Mohau Monaledi, and this interview is for Wikipedia and Wikimedia, which is an internet encyclopaedia. Would you like to introduce yourself?
  • Ms Seanego: My name is Ngakwane Jeminah Seanego
  • Achal: Great, thank you. How long have you been playing Kgati?
  • Ms Seanego: I started when I was about three years till I was 74 years old
  • Achal: And, has the game changed at all, or has it stayed the same exactly, or have any of the rules changed?
  • Ms Seanego: No, the rules are the same.
  • Achal: Have the rules of the game changed at all in the last, years you have been playing it?
  • Ms Seanego: No.
  • Achal: Is there anything particularly interesting that you know about the game, in terms of it’s history? Or how it originated, or do you know if it’s played anywhere else in South Africa?
  • Ms Seanego: I like this game because we use it to exercise and keep us physically active. So we do not just sit around doing nothing.
  • Achal: Great, thank you very much.
