Paris Saint-Germain are not interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United—despite widespread speculation—between now and June 30 when his release clause is set to expire, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.

Hope, who was in Paris last week, reported the news citing sources close to PSG leadership emphasizing that the club does not see value in triggering the midfielder’s £100 million release clause.

While Newcastle hope the expiration of the aforementioned clause will quell ongoing rumors about Guimaraes’ potential departure, Hope revealed that there is concern across world football that this might instead leave Newcastle vulnerable to receiving lower offers for the player generating some tensions between Bruno and the club if one of those offers comes from an organization he wants to join.

In that case, with NUFC under no obligation to accept any offer they don’t deem fair, the club might find itself in a cold war with Bruno if he sets his mind on joining whatever team comes calling for his services with a subpar offer.

In other transfer news, Newcastle is reportedly making moves to strengthen its squad and the Magpies might have already put together some advanced negotiations with upcoming free agent Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham.

Newcastle’s recruitment chief, Steve Nickson, has seemingly expressed interest in Belgian defender Zeno Debast following his performance in Belgium’s recent 2-2 draw against England at Wembley, according to reports.

Debast is considered a “versatile defender” and he is currently playing at Anderlecht. He can play both in the middle of the line and as right-back, which would fit Eddie Howe’s preference for multi-positional players to add during the next few months.

It’s believed Anderletch will allow Debast to leave the club this summer for a fee estimated between £15-20 million. That said, Newcastle will have to fight the likes of West Ham and other teams from Italy for his signature, as multiple organizations are interested in signing the 20-year-old.

Debast has already earned six caps for Belgium and is expected to compete in Euro 2024 with the senior squad next month.
