A very good win, performances and the return of the king, Kevin De Bruyne! The win sees City win its last three after the Club World Cup and could be the continuation of a streak.

“He played really good minutes, and we thought it was better in the second-half when there was more space because they defended really, really deep and the spaces were so hard to find,” said Pep.

“But in the second half there were more spaces and we played with good intention, and it was really, really good.

“Now, as I said in the previous press conferences, Kevin needs to accumulate training sessions, training sessions and more training sessions – even more than games.

“Now with Newcastle (next weekend) we have another chance, then we have two weeks to have good training sessions here and in Abu Dhabi, so we are ready for the second part of the season.

“But we made some adjustments after half-time and he is a guy who receives the ball as a striker in the pockets and his first turn - he is quite similar to Phil (Foden).

“He is an incredible threat - he was lucky for the goal but her has to be there and after he had two or three shots blocked.

“It’s another 90 minutes and always he has played - in pre-season, in the Red Star game and as a substitute - at a high, high level.

“It’s another player from the Academy coming here and it’s good.”
