Thank you to Sam Mewis, the former star player for Manchester City.

United States legend, Sam Mewis has announced her retirement from football.

The 2019 World Cup winner has decided to hang up her boots following rehabilitation from a serious knee injury first sustained in 2017.

In a special career which saw her collect a bevy of major trophies and individual accolades, the 31-year-old spent the entirety of the 2020/21 season at City.

During her time at the Club, she made 32 appearances for Gareth Taylor’s side and scored a crazy 16 goals, just about turning in a ratio of one every other game.

Perhaps her most famous strike in sky blue came in the 2019/20 FA Cup Final when she broke the deadlock against Everton in the showpiece.

All Manchester City fans, crew and more wish Sam the best of luck in her retirement as we do here at BnB!
