Taylor Lorenz Partners with Vox Media on New Technology Podcast

With new episodes available weekly on podcast and video platforms starting March 21, Power User will explore technology and the inner workings of the internet.

Today, Vox Media announced a partnership with journalist and author Taylor Lorenz, who will launch a weekly technology podcast. Premiering on March 21st, Power User will explore the inner workings of the internet, breaking down hidden systems of influence. With new episodes available on Thursdays on podcast and video platforms, Power User will dig into everything from online fame to emerging platforms, viral phenomena, disinformation, and more.

“I’ve spent my career writing about how technology influences culture, and I’m absolutely thrilled to bring this story to life in podcast form,” says Lorenz. “Power User will give listeners an inside look at the ever-shifting internet landscape and the different characters who are making it, breaking it, and informing how we spend our time.”

Currently a technology columnist at the Washington Post, Lorenz has established herself as one of the leading voices at the intersection of technology, business and culture. She’s the author of the national bestselling book, Extremely Online, which chronicles the history and impact of the content creator industry, and previously held roles at the New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Daily Beast. Lorenz was a Knight Visiting Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and is a former affiliate at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society. She makes frequent appearances on networks including NBC, CNN, CBS, the BBC, and more, commenting on the biggest news in technology and culture.

“Taylor is one of the sharpest and most authoritative journalists on this beat, with reporting that expertly unpacks the fascinating dynamics and far-reaching impact of internet culture,” says Nishat Kurwa, Vox Media’s SVP and executive producer for audio. “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with her on a new kind of technology podcast – one that will offer an expansive and in-depth look at what it means to wield power online.”

One of the top 10 podcast publishers according to leading industry tracker, Podtrac, the Vox Media Podcast Network is home to the most influential audio creators, including journalist Kara Swisher, NYU Stern Marketing professor Scott Galloway, research professor Brené Brown, former Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara, technology reviewer Marques Brownlee, acclaimed psychotherapist Esther Perel, former NBA stars Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, and more. Vox Media will oversee production, sales, marketing, and distribution responsibilities for Power User, which will take its place among an unrivaled slate of technology and business franchises at the Vox Media Podcast Network that includes Pivot, Decoder, Waveform The MKBHD Podcast, Land of the Giants, and more.
