other | kylix (Q668349) | In the "kylikes" record you sort "kylikes" as follows:
cups (G)
and additionaly: cups (G)
This double classification does not seem to make sense to me since a subclass of a subclass of "foo" is also a subclass of "foo". You might eliminate this additional hierarchy. That's the way Getty does it: the preferred parent is the more general concept (cups) while the more specific guide term (cups by form) is non-preferred. Similarly Sofia in TGN has generic preferred type (settlement) whereas specific types (national capital, provincial capital, industrial center) are non-preferred. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 10:18, 7 June 2017 (UTC) |

Link
[edit]Could this property provide a link with http://www.getty.edu/vow/AATFullDisplay?find=&logic=¬e=&page=&subjectid= [propertyvalue] to the AAT record. Would be useful. Thanks, --Marsupium (talk) 00:33, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Done, but there seems to be problems with the linking tool at the moment. --Zolo (talk) 09:08, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- changed "formatter URL" to http://vocab.getty.edu/aat/$1 that also provides Linked Open Data access (since Feb 2014). Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 20:57, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Zolo, Marsupium: the "beautified" html link is http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/$1 (put in "formatter URL"), whereas http://vocab.getty.edu/aat/$1 is "formatter URL for RDF resource". --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 07:40, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
Concept record type only!?
[edit]Rehashing my comments on Wikidata:Project chat/Archive/2013/11#Dumb question about subclasses: I think that we should only give Concept record type records of AAT as values for Art & Architecture Thesaurus ID (P1014) on Wikidata (since there should not be items for other records at Wikidata). --Marsupium (talk) 23:21, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed, but how would you do that? Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 20:57, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
There are some exceptions, particularly in the Periods and Styles facet. Often these designate styles associated with a certain tribe or place and we're happy to match to a WD entry about those native people or the place their artefacts were found; or ruler (eg Murad IV, Louis XIV), and we're happy to match to that ruler. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 15:52, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, okay! Thank you for this on Magnus’ talk. --Marsupium (talk) 06:47, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
I've added Q8205328 P1014 300264092 with AAT 300264092 having facet record type. I think this makes sense. If you disagree let me know! --Marsupium (talk) 07:28, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
instance of
[edit]The sister property Union List of Artist Names ID (P245) has "instance of: Wikidata property for authority control". I wanted to add the same here, but can't autocomplete "instance of". Maybe the data model was changed and "instance of" is not allowed for props anymore? Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 21:04, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- Added successfully "Wikidata property for authority control" to Art & Architecture Thesaurus ID (P1014), Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names ID (P1667), Union List of Artist Names ID (P245) and Cultural Objects Names Authority ID (P1669) --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 10:42, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
target for the refernece
[edit]Should the link not point to the sementic view of the AAT instead of the website view?
