Easy Painted Wood Looking Finish - My Vintage Porch

When I saw these chairs in the thrift store, I loved the style, but not so much the color. I was thinking about sanding them down, for about five seconds, then I remembered a technique that my friend on Instagram did to her chairs! Kathy @r.house__ used paint and wax to get a wood looking

These are my personal favorite steps to achieve a natural/light stain finish…

1) Apply chemical stripper, working in sections. You want to be sure to coat your sections generously but not to the point of it becoming “sloppy” as the stripper processes, you may notice it starting to look as if it’s drying out, when that happens I apply a bit more over those sections to ensure it does not dry out which will cause the stripper to not work as effectively.

2) Wood bleach - I buy the powder form that you mix into hot water. When doing so make sure you are using a mask AND gloves, as well as a good ventilated area. I applied two coats for this dresser, Natural Stains For Wood, Chalk Paint Bench Ideas, Vintage Wood Stain, Diy Stain Wood Furniture, Refinished Wood Nightstand, Sanding Old Furniture, Dark Wood Furniture Makeover, Upcycle Dark Wood Furniture, Dark To Light Furniture Makeover
