Robert Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction
• Since teaching in a class may be organised as sequence of
steps, there is a scope for innovation in each of these
steps.
• If each of the 9 events in the list of events can be done in
say 2 new ways, there would be >500 different ways of
teaching any lesson innovatively.
• With more imagination, there could be millions of ways of
innovatively teaching the same lessons.

Robert Gagne’s 9 Events of Instruction • Since teaching in a class may be organised as sequence of steps, there is a scope for innovation in each of these steps. • If each of the 9 events in the list of events can be done in say 2 new ways, there would be >500 different ways of teaching any lesson innovatively. • With more imagination, there could be millions of ways of innovatively teaching the same lessons. 10
