Indian preschool market is poised to grow at a tremendous pace as the market is under-penetrated. Higher disposable income among the middle class in India and the importance they attach to education will lead to further development of the pre-school market.
The report begins with an introduction to the Indian education market. Data suggests that the focus in India has been on primary education. It also provides the market size and growth of the Indian education sector. In the market overview section, the classification of Indian education system is highlighted and the current and estimated market size of the Indian pre-school (organized sector) is included with the market segmentation. The business model prevalent in the pre-school market has been depicted. Porter’s analysis helps to understand the dynamics in the preschool market in India.
Drivers identified include huge untapped market which gives ample opportunity for pre- schools to grow. Increase in disposable income acts as a driver for the pre-school market. Substantial improvement in the quality of pre-schools has led to further development of the market. Preschools are doubling up as they provide day care facilities as well. The middle class segment in India has always given impetus to education. Thus, pre-school market is expected to grow at a healthy rate in the future. Challenges identified include the various operational challenges including unavailability of quality teachers, limited target population as they cater only to a small target market in the vicinity. High rental costs also diminish the profitability of the pre-school. Other prominent challenge faced by the organized sector is overwhelming presence of the unorganized sector that does not follow any set standards towards imparting quality education.
Trends identified include corporate investments which have allowed for the expansion of various pre-schools all over India as well as given them the opportunity to scale up their infrastructural facilities. Corporate houses are interested too as there are no specific rules which guide the market. Other trends are that preschools are collaborating with various builders to bring down the cost of operations. They are also upgrading themselves to K-12 schools in order to get a captivated flow of students.
The competition section begins with a bubble chart which provides the relative positions of the players based on their revenue, net profit and market capitalization/asset value. The early learning center preschool daily application is inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia which is divided into 5 parts. Read the blog to know more about these 5 parts.
Loris Malaguzzi was an Italian educator and founder of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. He began working in nursery schools in 1946 and went on to establish the Municipal Psycho-Pedagogical Medical center where he worked as a psychologist for over 20 years. The Reggio Emilia approach focuses on viewing the child as a protagonist, collaborator, and communicator. Teachers take on the role of researchers and guides to provoke children's thinking through a rich learning environment.
This document provides information for early childhood educators on supporting children's development and preparation for school. It discusses the importance of creating a language-rich environment and developing children's literacy skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Specific activities are suggested to promote skills in each area, such as reading stories aloud, encouraging conversations, labeling items, and fine motor activities to develop pre-writing skills. The document emphasizes working with families and other professionals to understand children's individual needs and ensure a smooth transition to primary school.
The document discusses the key elements of curriculum: the learner (WHO), the content/subject matter (WHAT), and the process (HOW). It covers the different domains of child development that a curriculum should address, including emotional, physical, intellectual, and social development. It emphasizes that curriculum should be developmentally appropriate, focus on play, actively engage children, and respect individual and cultural differences.
The Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education began in Italy after World War II. Parents and educators created schools that built strong relationships between children, families, and the community. This progressive philosophy individualizes learning based on the interests and needs of each child. Reggio-inspired teachers focus on observing, documenting, and reflecting on children's progress to make their learning visible and assess their achievement. Credible sources show how the Reggio schools organize learning around themes, document children's work to demonstrate skills in multiple subjects, and collaborate with universities to prove the value of observation and reflection in supporting student achievement.

State of Teaching and Learning in the 21st CenturyLucy Gray

Gray used The School at Columbia as an example that embodies these themes through its constructivist curriculum and emphasis on technology, long-term planning for skills, and collaborative environment.
Decolonizing Universal Design for LearningFrederic Fovet
UDL has gained in popularity over the last decade both in the K-12 and the post-secondary sectors. The usefulness of UDL to create inclusive learning experiences for the full array of diverse learners has been well documented in the literature, and there is now increasing scholarship examining the process of integrating UDL strategically across organisations. One concern, however, remains under-reported and under-researched. Much of the scholarship on UDL ironically remains while and Eurocentric. Even if UDL, as a discourse, considers the decolonization of the curriculum, it is abundantly clear that the research and advocacy related to UDL originates almost exclusively from the Global North and from a Euro-Caucasian authorship. It is argued that it is high time for the way UDL has been monopolized by Global North scholars and practitioners to be challenged. Voices discussing and framing UDL, from the Global South and Indigenous communities, must be amplified and showcased in order to rectify this glaring imbalance and contradiction.
This session represents an opportunity for the author to reflect on a volume he has just finished editing entitled Decolonizing UDL and to highlight and share insights into the key innovations, promising practices, and calls for change, originating from the Global South and Indigenous Communities, that have woven the canvas of this book. The session seeks to create a space for critical dialogue, for the challenging of existing power dynamics within the UDL scholarship, and for the emergence of transformative voices from underrepresented communities. The workshop will use the UDL principles scrupulously to engage participants in diverse ways (challenging single story approaches to the narrative that surrounds UDL implementation) , as well as offer multiple means of action and expression for them to gain ownership over the key themes and concerns of the session (by encouraging a broad range of interventions, contributions, and stances).
