Thursday Edition of the Daily Merengue

Real Madrid v Deportivo Alaves - La Liga

The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name!

Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job, Valyrian Steel, Felipejack, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco and yours truly, Kung_Fu_Zizou

Silly Season and Other Stories

Animo Endricki!

The young forward suffered an injury which forced off the field on a stretcher. There are no details regarding the extent of the injury.

Project Arda

Carlo Ancelotti seem to have a great relationship. The youngster who is desperate to play and show his ability is always grateful to the boss and the boss always full of praise for the youngster. Ancelotti has already said that Arda will remain with the team next season. The narrative so far is that Arda is the heir apparent to Luka Modric(probably leaving). This might be why Carlo is so confident that Arda will have more minutes next season

Ready Or Not?

Courtois has been injured the whole season and yet in his first game back, looked like he never left. I don’t know if GKs need to get into a rhythm but he looks sharp and reliable as ever. One can understand Carlo’s temptation to start him in the CL final.

Frimpong on the market

Jeremy Frimpong has no shortage of suitors and given the highs Leverkusen have reached this season, it is only a matter of time before clubs from all over Europe come for their most influential players. Real Madrid will be looking for right-back solutions with one eye on Dani Carvajal’s age.

More History Beckons

Carlo’s men will not usurp the legendary 2011/12 side which ripped through La Liga like a whirlwind. At least not their record of 100 points in La Liga. Reaching 99 points would still be a phenomenal achievement. Never mind the fact that the boy’s are in with a chance of winning the CL + Liga double.

Illia Voloshyn

Real Madrid’s U17 GK Illia Voloshyn stands at an imposing 2.02 metres. Taller than Courtois. Hopefully his development will be as successful as his fellow countryman Andrey Lunin.
