The Spanish Football Federation has appointed Cesar Soto Grado as the referee for Sunday’s high-stakes El Clasico match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The crucial La Liga showdown kicks off at 9:00 PM CET (3:00 PM ET).

This will be Soto Grado’s baptism by fire, his first time officiating the historic rivalry. The appointment raises eyebrows considering the immense pressure of the fixture, which could decide the league title.

Soto Grado has overseen three Real Madrid matches this season, with a 2-1-0 record for Los Blancos. With Real Madrid currently boasting an eight-point lead over Barcelona, a win or even a draw would significantly bolster their championship aspirations.

Barcelona, reeling from their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, face a monumental task. Their approach to the match will be intriguing, as they desperately need a win to stay in the title race with only seven games remaining.
