Podcast: Mavericks eliminate Clippers in Game 6, 114-101

The Dallas Mavericks took care of business in game six of their first round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers, eliminating them from the postseason with a 114-101 victory. Following the game, Josh Bowe and I broke down the game on our podcast, Pod Maverick After Dark.

This was an odd first half, with Dallas taking the lead over a sleepy Clippers team, but the few times the Mavericks had the opportunity to run away with things, a series of bad offensive possessions from Dallas allowed Los Angeles to get back into things. The second quarter in particular was awful, with Luka Doncic trying to shoot himself out of his three-point shooting funk. Dallas and the Clippers were tied at 52 after 24 minutes of hoops.

Dallas blew the Clippers away in the third quarter, led by another incredible Kyrie Irving outburst. The Mavericks took that commanding lead into the final frame and held off Los Angeles until the final whistle.

Josh and I enjoyed talking about the big contributors to this game and what did and didn’t work. Because we plan to record later this weekend or Monday about the Oklahoma City Thunder, we didn’t get too much into that series. We’ll see what we can come up with to get us through three days without Mavs basketball!
