Podcast: Mavericks outshoot Thunder, 119-110

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in their own house Thursday night, tying the second-round playoff series at 1-1 with the show heading to Dallas this weekend. Josh Bowe and I open the show talking about the red-hot shooting from the Dallas Mavericks, which was the key reason Dallas won this game. They hit 8 more threes than the Thunder, and that’s a hard number to beat.

But after walking through the game, we settled on a lot of different things the Mavericks did really, really well in this game. The defense really stands out as the Mavericks held the thunder scoreless for repeated stretches during this contest. There was also the superb all-around play from P.J. Washington, the staunch defense of Dereck Lively, the hilarious hot streak from Tim Hardaway Jr. This was such a weird game.

There’s a lot the Mavericks could improve on as well, if you think they played poorly in certain areas. Josh says the Mavericks shot 6 of 19 on CORNER threes, which is real bad. Derrick Jones Jr. and Lively could stand to hit a basket or two as well. Either way, with the series tied at 1-1, it’s now a best-of-five games with Dallas having the home-court advantage. Go Mavs.
