Podcast: Dallas Mavericks defeat Los Angeles Clippers, 96-93

The Dallas Mavericks fought back to tie the series with the Los Angeles Clippers with a gutsy defensive performance, winning 96-93.

Following that win, Josh Bowe and I went live on YouTube to try to process and make sense of a really grinding defensive battle. This one was a little bit hard to talk about in that it was such a back-and-forth battle, a lot of what happened on defense will require me to get a second look at what Dallas did that was so effective. The Clippers missed a ton of threes too, which helped matters, but the Mavericks had a great defensive game plan.

The offense left a lot to be desired, at least relative to Luka Doncic’s shooting decisions at different intervals of this game and it’s hard to imagine the Mavericks continuing to struggle in this area where they did so well during the regular season. Josh talks a lot about things he hasn’t seem them try yet.

That said, the big shots down the stretch from P.J. Washington and Maxi Kleber were so important to what the Mavericks need to do to push past the Clippers in the playoffs.
