The Portland Trail Blazers won’t renew the contracts for assistant coaches Scott Brooks and Rodney Billups, Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian/Oregon Live reported, per a league source.

Brooks served as the top assistant on Head Coach Chauncey Billups’ staff for the last three seasons. Rodney Billups, the younger brother of Chauncey, joined the staff in December 2021.

This news comes after assistant coach Steve Hetzel left the Blazers on April 22 to join the Brooklyn Nets’ coaching staff. Hetzel had also spent three seasons in Portland.

The Blazers plan to fill all three positions, according to Fentress.

While the Portland bench will undergo a significant shakeup, the Blazers confirmed at the end of the season that Chauncey Billups will return for his fourth season as head coach. Billups is entering the final guaranteed year of his contract. Portland holds a team-option for the 2025-26 season, the fifth and final year on Billups’ contract.
